Hello hun, didn't want to read and run? Is it your first? WIth my first pregnancy, you had to have a 16 weeks appointment, but I was the one who had to book the appointments, I wouldn't receive a letter although no one told me that's how it should work. If I were you I would call the midwife to make an appointment. Also, my maternity notes had a "timetable" on the first page, telling you when your appointments should be.

Im 29 weeks with my first baby and Iv had contact with my midwife once, at my booking apointment (about 9 weeks) I had to organise my own first scan and didnt have a clue who to call after my midwife gave me the wrong number?! the woman simply DOES NOT answer her phone! my GP is absolutly AWFULL! So iv just been calling the NHS direct if ever I have a worry or concern, at least I know someone will answer the phone! I manged to get an appointment next week (29+4 weeks) yay!!! but just found out my sister is being induced on the same day in my home town 4 hours away, so cant make the appointment, turns out the next time the midwife is free is 27th November!!! ill be nearly 33 weeks pregnant, and would have had ONE appointment with midwife?!!!! im just left to hope and pray that everything is ok, and read comments like these ones to try and make my way through my first pregancy.
what a joke!!!!
Good luck ladies and hope you have better luck than me.

im 25weeks+2....with first one.....and i saw my midwife just one time in 12 weeks, then she said that she ll see me in 16weeks, but when i came they said to me that i dont have any appointmnet and also that my midwife is not present, so i tried to call her next days, but every time they said to me, she is not there, she even didnt send me my results from blood test. I had kidney infection, fever and trush infection, so i went to hospital, cos my GP said to me to drink only water and my midwife again didnt pick the phone. On 2nd ultrasound doctor said to me, that my placenta is low and my midwife ll explain to me what to do and what ll be the next step, but again she didnt response, in 21 week, she called me what i wanted, why im calling to her so often and she said everything is ok, dont need to be worry, that she ll call me for appointment in 25 weeks, in 24 week i had bleeding cos of low placenta so i had to stay in hospital for while and when i said that i saw my midwife only once, they booked for me appointment straight in maternity departement with doctor and also said that they ll investigate my midwife, cos i was in risk and she didnt care about me......
so ladies u r so happy, that u can see ur midwife so often, i even dont know who ll be with me at labour
and one question, who ll give me MAT B Certificate and in which week??

It doesn't sound right to me! I saw my midwife for booking in and bloods between 8 &12 weeks, then again at 16 weeks where she checked urine and babies heartbeat! Because this is my second and I'm classes as a low risk pregnancy she doesn't need to see me again until 28 weeks, but I defo had an appointment between 16 and 28 weeks during my first pregnancy! I would give her a ring if I were you....you should be having bp, urine and babies heartbeat checked along with general advice for you and baby. I am in west yorkshire x

HI, I'm 21 - nearly 6 months and haven't seen or heard from my mw since I registered in was pregnant (6 weeks) I have tried to contact her... she took bloods and that was it?
Surely this is not normal unless she has left me because I'm fine? But it's rather ignorant in my opinion. I have texted her all I have is a non emergency number? I have contacted my drs surgery and they told me to contact my midwife...just going around in circles. Does anyone know what else I can do???
Thank you in advanced

anyone having these problems with their midwife and not being able to get in contact with them should really kick some behinds! It's awful to hear how much trouble some people are going through just to get an appointment!
I'm 22 weeks with my first and I saw the midwife a couple of weeks after I took a home test and she did the relevant things like taking blood, urine sample, height/weight and asking loots of questions about my health and my OH health and our family history etc... and what scans and tests were available to us if we would like to check the baby for any problems (like Downs Syndrome or Edwards)She told us we would get a letter through the post about our 12 week scan which we did a couple of weeks later, went to that fine in which I also had the tests for Downs etc... at the same time.
I then booked my next midwife appointment for 18 weeks and went to that fine and she took blood pressure, another urine test, checked the baby's heartbeat and went through any questions I had and how I'd been feeling. She then told me to make another appointment with her after my 20 week scan which I have done and I am seeing her tomorrow with a list of questions I have!
At the start of my pregnancy I had some pains and light bleeding which I knew could be normal but booked in to see my GP straight away who was very calming and got me to have a scan a few days later at the hospital to be on the safe side.
So I'm really struggling with how awful some of your midwifes are?? It saddens me as well because you need their support and reassurance! These appointments I've had are all in South East Kent who are pretty good! If they are ignoring you complain or get your OH to complain as it's really not on!!! Good luck to you all!!!
