I've heard so many stories about how hypnobirthing is a great technique when in labour. I've looked at classes and there aren't many in my area and the ones I can find are quite expensive. I have now ordered a book that comes with a CD form amazon which looks good from the reviews.
Has anyone got anything like this and found it to be useful? Don't think it can hurt!

You probably saw my posts in November as Im doing hypno. The book is fabulous (Im now reading it for the second time after having been on the course) and so is the CD - when you get used to it!! Hubby and I listen to it every night in bed and fall asleep to it. You could also get some other guided meditation CDs to get you into the relaxation which is what Im doing.

Did you order the Marie Mongan book?

I have totally turned around from being extremely anxious about the whole birth and refusing to think or talk about it, to eagerly waiting in anticipation.

Just stay away from reading or hearing anyone else's horror stories / traumatic birth recounts. Just politely ask them to save it for after your birth (meaning never!) The key is to eliminate all fear, as fear causes tension and it works against you.

    Enjoy the book!

I can email you some things as well.

Hi Sim, got your message - thanks!
Have got the Marie Mongan book but thought it came with a cd but it didn't :\(
Anyway, haven't started reading yet but will start tonight, I think. Will have to start looking around for a cd to buy to listen too. I am trying not to read 'traumatic births' but cant help but be curious! I cant believe that I only have about 10 weeks to go, will DEFO start the book tonight

Am really interested in this, does the CD come with the book or are they separate?

I've read a few hypnobirth stories and have been so impressed. Am thinking of getting in early and using it through my pregnancy.

    Thanks for the tips ladies

If you book onto a course you get the cd and the book as materials. But if you want to do it on your own then you will need to buy them separately. The Marie Mongan book is the one to go for.
If you can afford the course and there is one in your area I would totally recommend it as it brings it all together, but if you need to go it alone you would still benefit from it.

A good place to start is here: http://www.hypnobirthing.co.uk/
