I have just messed up the curtains for Noodles' room. They are pencil please do I had to pull the cords at the top, I remembered to tie a knot at both ends and got on with it, except I didn't notice that the knot at one end had come undone and basically I was pulling the threads all the way through.
I did wonder if I could shorten them from the top and put new heading tape on but then they will be too short.
Add to that that it turns out i don't really like them either. They look cheap - well to be fair they were pretty cheap at £35 a pair, but we have 2 windows in the room. I think part of the problem is that we have just replaced all the curtains in the house with made to measure and they really do look so much better as we have funny size windows so the ready made ones never look quite right.
I so wanted to get the room finished while Zoe is at her Grandma's this week but now I won't be able to.

Is it just one curtain? Could you not take the tape off and replace?
Or if you have gone off them, what about getting a blackout blind and some tulle?
I feel your pain, I hate that 'kick yourself' feeling.

Taking of the heading tape will trash them, I can't see anyway of doing it neatly and I'm fairly adept at sewing. Blind is a definite no-go as would be far too expensive, would have to be made to measure as windows are an odd size and also needs professional installation as we have steel lintels which can't be drilled into easily. We had roman blinds in our sitting room which ended up costing £800 each !

Ooof not many options at all. What about sewing a new piece of heading tape on top, is the material heavy enough it might not show. Maybe even using thinner heading tape?

I'm abandoning them. At least it was the first pair so the second pair are still in their packet which means I can at least return them. I am off to Dunelm to see how much to get some made to measure ones done, they've got 20% off at the moment so hopefull it won't be too expensive.

Can you not just thread it back through with a needle?
You aren't having much luck getting these rooms decorated, are you?

PS - I would cry at that too!

If they are cheap could you just not get another pair? You could use the fabric in the ones you wrecked for bunting/ cushions/ nappy stacker so not a total waste. We have ready made curtains in the twins room which do look cheap compared to the made to measure ones but I can't justify the cost of made to measure for their room as they'll probably want to change them in a few years anyway. I did get blackout linings (again ready made) which I fixed into the ready made curtains with the curtain hooks which has made them look better by adding some weight.
I would have cried too though!!

Rusty, you are right, it just all keeps going wrong. Everything. I probably could get another pair but then that means we've spent £105 on curtains (2 windows at £35 each) for them to look rubbish. I reckon if I get plain pink ones then it is unlikely they will need replacing for quite a few years.
Thank you all for sympathising with me btw. I'm in a "nothing can fix this" mood right now so appreciate I am probably coming across as very dismissive.
