    hey ladies
ive been ill with a horrible cold / virus infection for a week now and i just cant seem to shake it. it started with a sore throat and general flu-like symptoms (ie achy joints, tiredness, weakness etc but luckily no fever). the throat is much better now but it seems to have turned into a sinus infection. my nose is totally blocked and i have really gross thick green phlegm (sorry tmi!). ive been off work and at home all week and really thought id be well again by now but im still hawking and coughing and blowing. in short - its miserable and im so sick of lying around. we were supposed to go shopping for prams tomorrow but im not sure ill be well enough
anybody got any useful tips? i really dont want to go back to the docs on monday.
    sorry for the moan. xx

Did the doctor give you anything when you went?

Over Christmas I was ill for over a month, I had a terrible chest infection that they thought may have been pneumonia and tbh I still get quite 'coughy' days now.

On doctor's instructions I took paracetamol every 4 hours, drank honey & lemon, and used vicks vaporub on my chest and inhaled Vicks melted in hot water.

For 2 weeks, they wouldn't give me any antibiotics but then I took amoxicillin for a week (which didn't help at all, I got worse) before they gave me a different antibiotic that worked (can't remember which one)

I was so nervous about taking drugs in my pregnancy but honestly nothing else really made me feel any better. I would really recommend going back to the doctor if it's not clearing up as it is so hard for your body shift infection by itself when you're pregnant.

Oh, and unless the doctor says otherwise, don't use nasal sprays as they aren't recommended fro what I was told.

I hope something I've written is useful to you - I know how rubbish it is to feel so ill!

thanx for the reply hun! sounds like you had a really rough time.
she gave me some homeopathic stuff and allowed me a nasal spray at night so i could sleep (i was awake half the night before and that wasnt helpful to getting better but its one for small children so very mild). im supposed to try that and if by monday its not better i should come back and well take the next steps. i would like to avoid antibiotics if i can as i dont like taking them in general but i know that if its necessary ill do it. im just hoping to get rid of this without them.
just been to the pharmacy and got some more homeopathic stuff and will speak to her before i take that anyways so ill see what she says about my condition in general.
