Any advice or comments welcome!
I'm currently 9 days overdue and booked in for Induction on Saturday. I had a sweep tuesday and the MW said that my cervix was softening albeit a little posterior and that she was able to move it around well, TMI sorry..and even stick her finger in it, ugh! She said I was between 1/2cm dilated. I had raised blood pressure and she detected protein in my urine so rang the hospital and they advised me to go in to be monitored ( my mum had pre eclampsia with me). Once at the hospital i was hooked up to the monitor and checked over, bp was averaging normal and my urine sample showed point 3 of protein? She then took three vials of blood and sent me home. I then got a phonecall from them later that evening saying that my blood results came back higher than they would of liked so re scheduled my induction a day forward from Sunday to Saturday.
So after all that, I guess my question is, for those that have had inductions what where your experiences? I know that its a ' how long is a piece of string' question. Were you dilated before going in? How quick was your induction process from start to finish? if dilated did they try and break your waters first before the pessary or did some of you go straight to the drip?
I'm safe in the knowledge now that baby isn't coming on his own accord and that induction is unevitable, so I may as well embrace it for all its possible lows!

I had a really positive experience after being very upset at being left to go over 2 weeks over despite protein in my urine and terrible swelling. Had a sweep Friday evening, pessary mid-morning Sat, laid still to wait for it to work, then walked non-stop round the hospital and if one of my ward nurses saw me having a rest I'd get a little friendly telling off. Same again after lunch. First sign of symptoms was 6.30pm Sat evening (simultaneous sickness and diaorrhea, not easy to negotiate at 18 stone and 9.5 months pregnant, where to put what end?!). Labour was fine, last phase was pretty quick, baby came out at 12.30am, blue and dazed from the late pethidine shot and taken away for oxygen but all was well.
I didn't know anything about being induced, I just knew I wanted my baby out for both our sakes! Hope it goes well for you :)

Thanks Counter thats reassured me! The selfish part of me wants to be home for Christmas Day enjoying our new bundle of joy so hoping that it goes smoothly, hence me trying to be as laid back as I can be about it :-)
2cm when went in. Waters broken and straight on drip. Baby born 4.5 hours later x

I had a sweep at 41 weeks, was 1-2cm then booked in for induction 6 days later. Tried everything to get him out in those 6 days and nothing! Went in at 4pm for induction, given 1st gel at 5pm, 2nd gel at midnight, taken to delivery suite at 9.30 still 1-2cm. Waters broken at 10.30 taken for emergency c sectiom at 11am still at 1-2cm! So my induction failed didnt get to use the drip though as O was severly distressed so no time to try and labour, but my c section was positive and not at all like I expected I was out 2 days later. On the other hand my friend was induced given first gel and baby arrived 2 hours later! Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you x

Waters broke weds at 5pm, contractions irregular and coming and going all day Thursday so went in for induction Friday morning. At 9am I was 3-4cm so no pessary or whatever it was needed, she just stretched me a bit more! Finally got hooked up to the drip at 3pm, at 8pm I was 7cm and fully dilated by 11pm, S was born at 1.53am. It actually wasn't that bad. Hope it goes ok for you, you'll be meeting your little one soon :) xxx

My Induction is a little different, in that I was taken in at 38 weeks, which I think made the induction process longer (could be wrong though).
Was admitted on the Sunday and was 1cm, given the Propess and sent off for walks etc. Had a few contractions but nothing major.
Was examined 24 hours later, and was still only 2cm dilated. Was given the first lot of gel, again more contractions, stronger this time, but nothing regular and after 4 hours they stopped. Was shattered by this point, so was left overnight to get some rest, and was examined the following morning, where I was still only 2cm.
Dr decided that they should break my waters, which they did. They left me for 2 hours to see if contractions would start of their own accord, which they didnt, so was started on the drip.
Drip was very intense, and the contractions were soon coming every 2 minutes or so. I went from 2cm to Henry being born in 2 hours! So very quick once the contractions got going.

I asked one of my NCT friends about hers. She went in on the monday to be induced and had the pessary but was told ger hind waters had actually gone so it kept falling out! She then had the drip and her front waters were broken. She had the baby late on the Tues afternoon so just over 24 hours in total.
She said couldn't eat anything but was allowed Haribo!

1st baby - 2cm when I went in, waters broken, synto drip started. Contractions started around midday and baby was born at 1844
3rd baby - prostin inserted at 4pm as I wasn't dilated. Contractions started around 8.30pm, baby born at 9.45pm
