    in pregnancy?

Apologies first of all for a possibly daft question ;\)

Just wondering if eating pineapple is ok, I know later on in pg it is 'thought' to bring on labour (no idea if this is true or not) I am 16 weeks this week and it won't be masses, just some with my gammon dinner!

    Thank you xxx

I've been eating it throughout my pregnancy (I'm almost 37 weeks now) and haven't experienced any 'adverse' effects!!! I love pineapple!

    Hi,
I don't think it is a problem, I actually got told by a midwife this week that drinking pineapple juice is good for the pregnancy so I can't see the harm in eating pineapple. I've eaten it on and off throughout this pregnancy and i'm fine. xx

Bromelain, which is contained in pineapple cores, is sometimes said to aid ttc, as it thickens the lining of the uterus and softens the cervix. But bromelain is only in fresh pineapples and is destroyed by canning or juicing, so there shouldn't be any cervix-softening if you're going to have pineapple rings.

In saying that, I've had fresh pineapple flesh since being pregnant and its not caused any problems.

yes its fine, for it to induce labour u need to eat like 7 fresh ones (juice and tinned don't count at all) in one day, when i was preggers with ds and tryingall the usual curry etc i ate 4 pineapples in one day and didn't even get the runs! jsut burnt my mouth to buggery! so having some pineapple through out ur pregnancy is perfectly safe x
