...I did a test literally a couple of hours ago!!! Am shocked - but happy! This will be my second child, I already have a boisterous little boy who is 3. Haven't the foggiest how far I am gone but guess I must only be a few weeks at most.

Can anyone offer advice on exercise? I currently go to the gym 4 - 5 times a week doing a range of cardio - am I ok to carry on the same intensity of work out for at least the first trimester? I am keen to keep it up and be as healthy as possible after just losing 1st and half....don't want to use my pregnancy as an excuse to get into old bad habits

Anyway - any advice is appreciated, still a bit shell shocked by it all

    Congrats sweetie

TBH I'm not sure, though I THINK you can generally carry on, though don't take my word for it, probably best to speak with your GP and/or fitness person at the gym.

Congrats! I think you can carry on if you are used to it but make sure you are well hydrated and don't push yourself, as in now is not the time to try and beat your previous records for running etc! Avoid tummy crunches and from 16 weeks I think it is I read you have to avoid all exercises that have you on your back, I would also say avoid lifting heavy weights as it will be alot easier now to cause yourself injury xx

i had some advise from a trainer not to do exercises that involve twisting the abdomen, cross-trainer for example. Treadmill is fine, as is cycling, just speak to the instructors at the gym as they should have somebody to beable to advise what you can and cant do. as Huni says too aviod heavey lifting and be aware that relaxin is released when your pregnant so you can injure yourself eaily. Swimming is a really good way to excercise when pregnant if you gym has a pool? HTH xx

hi, before my last pg i was really fit and always down the gym - i maintained pilates and spinning until about 6 months as i didnt get a bump till very late on. Basically, go easy, as already said now is not the time to push yourself. With cardio they generally say to ease off slightly so you are only working at about 70%? of ur maximum or so. Enjoy exercising but once you get to the point of being too big maybe consider swimming as its low impact. Definately speak to one of the fitness instructors at ur gym as they will be able to advise you on specific exercises. Congrats on ur pg!x
