I have had a difficult pregnancy so far, been in hospital with hyperemesis but am recovering now so hopefully can enjoy the pregnancy from now.
I keep having like panic attacks though, when i think of giving birth, it really terrifies me, is that normal?

Hi Sam, congratulations on your pregnancy, hope it all goes smoothly. I'm Angela and I have a have a 3 year old son, James, and I look after him and also work part time in an office.
There are lots of really nice parents on here with loads of experience on all aspects of pregnancy/labour/baby/toddler/child so if you have any questions just ask them in the forum and someone will have been through the same thing and be able to give advice!! I've asked questions on potty training and naps, to name a couple and had some really helpful answers!!
Regarding worrying about labour, that's quite normal as it is a big (and painful) event so it'd be stranger not to have concerns. I guess the best thing is to focus on the end result and how it'll all be worth it in the end. To reassure yourself, nearer the time go on a tour of your labour unit and have a practice run of getting there, finding the car park etc. You could try one of those hypnotherapy CDs, I didn't use one myself but a friend did and said it really helped keep her calm before and during labour. Also make sure you look after yourself, like Bhuvana says, and get plenty of rest and don't get stressed out (easier said than done, I know).
Welcome to the site and good luck with everything!!

Hi Angela, nice to meet you. I joined here because i have noone else to really talk to, im adopted so my mum doesnt know anything pregnancy related and none of my friends have kids. It will be nice to talk to people who have gone through it.
I have tried so hard to get a baby with the fertility treatment etc, i worry that after all that effort i might be awful when the time comes, i worry that i wont be able to give birth or that the baby will get stuck. It really scares me thinking about the contractions etc

welcome to mfm's i'm zoe i'm 27 and full time mummy to Charlie who is 3. we are trying for baby no2 at the moment but charlie keeps me fairly busy as it is lol
CONGRATULATIONS on ur pregnancy hunny i bet you are really pleased...i agree with the girls worrying about labour is the norm because its the unknown, people can tell you what its like but u have to remember that no two births are ever the same and everybody is completly different with pain thresholds, birth plans, pain relief, birthing environments etc etc, so the best thing to do is think of the end result your beautiful baby and just cope with the labour when it happens at the time. i was worried all through my labour to but when it came to crunch time i just put my faith in the midwives and also made sure my hubby knew exactly what i wanted with regards to pain relief etc etc so that he could communicate for me if for any reason i couldnt and my labour went aswell as it could for me. it will be fine hunny dont forget your not the first and certainly not the last and the midwives are there to help and support u throughout it all. i found buying ppp magazine really helped me through my pregnancy because it covers everything from conception, pregnancy, labour and much much more. try to relax and take each pregnancy milestones as it comes and enjoy it. you will be fine and like the girls said we are always on here for anything and i'm even on fb if u wanna chat on there
take care hunny xxxxx
