Hi ladies, I know there is a wide variety of mums/pregnant ladies over here and I was wondering if some of you who've had long erratic cycles could give me a bit of hope and a kick up the backside. So far I've had 3 cycles in 8 months (40 days, 84 days & 50 days) and I'm on day 38 of my fourth cycle and still no sign of ovulation.Obvious it's getting me a bit down now and I'm starting to struggle with keeping optimistic. I would love to hear some success stories for ladies who've been in my situation to help get my TTC mojo back! :)

Me! My cycles were anywhere from 35 days to 90 odd days. We conceived A on 3rd cycle of not preventing (although I was temping to see if I could work out what was going on, we wasn't timing DTD), which took 6 months.
I had gone to my doctor on the cycle we conceived who sent me for a CD21 blood test as although not TTC for that long I'd been off the pill for over 3 years and they were still so erratic.
My cycles, although not like clockwork, were a lot more regular (35-45 days) after having a baby.

I should add that the cycle I conceived A on was a shorter one at 35 days. I don't know if that was coincidence or not though.

Thank you for replying BG. I've been told to go back to GP at the end of September if I'm not pregnant then and they will do a blood test and sperm test. Realistically I'm looking at this cycle and then one more before September is here so wish me luck! :)

I got pregnant with N after having no periods for 7 months and even before that they were very irregular. After I had him my cycles suddenly became regular (every 26-32 days) naturally. Good luck, I hope it happens for you soon x

I came off the pill roughly a year before we'd planned to TTC. In that time, my cycles ranged from 28 days to nearly 50. I did start to wonder if maybe we'd struggle to conceive straight away but we were very lucky in that it didn't seemed to affect things at all - we'd planned to start TTC whilst on holiday in the June but we found out that I was in fact pregnant before we even went away! I appreciate that it's probably not quite the same but it just shows that it can happen even with irregular cycles. I hope you're not waiting too long for your BFP x

Me. After I came off the pill my cycles got longer and longer every month. At one point it was 111 days. We had all the various blood tests, I was referred for a scan where they said I had pcos.
The gp had to do bloods before referring me to the fertility clinic on days 2, 7, and 21 I think it was.
I went back to the gp to get the results of those and he said my day 21 bloods had shown I wasn't ovulating and he was referring me to the fertility clinic.
Two days before we were due to see them I got my bfp. According to the dates I was given at my 12 weeks scan id conceived on cd26 of the cycle where is had my cd21 bloods taken. The day is sat in the Gps office and been told I wasn't ovulating was around about the day I conceived!!
I now have a lovely healthy 18 month old, and for even more positive news, after her birth my cycles were much shorter and regular ( for me anyway) between 34-45 days. We conceived #2 on cycle 2. So much quicker.
I don't want to say it will happen for you because no one knows, but I know exactly how you are feeling. It feels like you've been Ttc for forever and that you will never ever get a bfp when all around you are birth announcements and bumps etc.
fingers crossed you get good news soon, but in the mean time do your best to stay positive .x x x

I did with number one. I'd be off the pill 3 years and we weren't preventing but realistically not Dtd that regularly either. My cycles were never shorter than 2 months, often 5 months. Had blood tests and had quite bad pcos. Anyway a few weeks after honeymoon I found out I was pregnant! I do think being properly relaxed for first time in ages helped me as generally I was manically busy. With this one my cycles were 4-8 weeks, took 6 months post mc.
I think key is to dtd regularly all the time if you don't know when you're ovulating.

I remember that feeling well. I came of the pill in Feb 2006 and had a period on the 1st July. I had nothing after that and lost hope. I was diagnosed with PCO and I was due to begin clomid in Feb 2007 but just weeks before I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant. That was my last period and I have had another baby since then too so it is certainly possible. I hope it happens for you soon, just stay positive xx

Lovely to hear some success stories.
PS sorry to hear that your cycles are still erratic :( I hope they regulate themselves soon.
