A starts P1 in August and is already getting upset that she is going to miss her best friend who is going to a mother school. Has anyone had this problem?
I don't know the little girls parents, never seen them. Would it be weird to ask preschool to pass in my number to arrange for the girls to meet up? Should I just leave it as she will make other friends?
Even their preschool teacher commented they are very close and its a shame they are being split up.

that sounds like a good idea. You could write a play date invitation with all your contact details and make arrangements to meet up before summer so that you have time to build a relationship with the parents before term ends.

We had this last September when Zoe started in the nursery class of her school, and her best friend started school. They were best friends at nursery but we don't know the parents at all. We decided not to try and maintain contact as it would just be prolonging the seperation as we wouldn't be able to maintain the contact long term.
Saying that Zoe still often asks when she will see Ciara again, but she does have a memory like an elephant.

I've been wondering this too since most of C's pre-school friends will be going to different school unfortunately - I guess that's the problem with us sending him to a nursery in a different village, although they may end up at the next school together depending where we apply when it gets to that (although I really don't want to think that far ahead).
I do have mobile numbers of most of his close friends from replying to party invitations so we could get in touch anyway, although JB does have a good point. Fortunately there is one girl who will be going to the same school who he's quite close with and I'm sure it won't take him long to make friends based on how quickly he made friends on holiday.
