I'm currently about 6 and a half weeks pregnant. For the last week I have been experiencing lower back pain. Its not constant, it only hurts when I have been walking around for around 10 mins or so. As it isn't constant I hadn't really been too worried until now, but I can't stop myself from wondering if it could be a sign of miscarriage. I haven't had any bleeding and only had very slight cramping which mostly stopped around 5 and a half weeks but i have read that back pain can be a symptom of miscarriage. However, I have also read that back pain can just be a result of ligaments and muscles etc moving/changing so now I'm just confused!! Has anyone else had this and if so, how did it turn out? Do you think I should contact my doctor? I don't have my first midwife appointment until I'm 9 weeks.

i had it at the begining of my pregnancy, cramps and back pain every aftenoon and evening. i used to take baths to ease the pain. i was so sure i would miscarry because i know quite a few people who have been pregnant, then had back pain then miscarried a day or so later. im 36wks along now and everything is fine, i dont know why my back used to ache but it had me really worried that i would start bleeding at any moment. have you started to be sick yet?? that really kept me going thinking its going to be fine

It's just your ligaments stretching and making way for changes. Don't worry, it's all natural. However, if you do start bleeding or have a brown/pink discharge, do see the doc!

Thanks for the responses. Thankfully there has been no bleeding at all but if I do get any I will of course go to the doctor/hospital.
I haven't had any sickness at all yet. Honestly my lack of symptoms concerns me too but like I say, I'm worrying about everything lol! I've been told not to worry about not having many symptoms (just gentle crampting, tender breasts and back pain) because some women just don't get it as bad as others. However, I will be 7 weeks on Thursday so there is still plenty of time for the sickness to kick in!!

Thanks for your suggestion Nicola. Thankfully the back pain has completely stopped now . I'm going to mention it at my first midwife appointment next Friday but for now I'm not too worried.
