So by pure chance I've discovered that if I give Maya a large banana to eat for tea it makes her sleep through the night no matter how much milk she has before bed. I discovered this last Wednesday after being a bit lazy with her tea and just mashing up a whole one for her to have. I did this on Wednesday, Friday,Saturday and last night. Each night she's slept 7-5.30, the two nights she had something different she woke at 3am. before this she's only slept through 3 random times in 7 months.
my question is if I give her a banana every night will it be detrimental to her health? She eats a varied lunch and breakfast but I know that bananas contain a lot of potassium? Any thoughts?

Great discovery! :)
I thought bananas were one of the top weaning foods, so I imagine it's absolutely fine. The only thing about banana is the possibility of constipation, but my son loved bananas as a baby and I don't remember it being a problem.

Well my son only really eats bananas and weetabix so he gets them daily (sadly no effect on his sleep though) but I might try one just before bath time!

I think they must have sleeping powder in them as they improved Ls sleep as I tied giving him one with his night milk on the advice if an old hitcher and it worked lol.
He used to have tea, play, bath, ITNG with banana and milk and then bed with a story. This got him 7ish till 5am.

bananas contain a natural source of melatonin (the hormone that makes you sleepy), so the bananas really could be making a difference.
my son is on melatonin tablets as he cant sleep without themas due to his autism he doesnt produce enough melatonin and i was told that giving him bananas can also help top this up.
It wont be any issue to her health, aslong as her diets balance, so go for it and enjoy you sleep!

W has a banana before bed too. He's always been a good sleeper, so i hadn't given the effect of banana on his sleep much thought.
He's actually learnt to sort of say Banana, which is just the cutest thing! It comes out banba.
