How did your appointment go this afternoon!?? Xxx

Its at 4.10 so will let you know. I am not holding my breath.....I do definitely think its reflux. P was just crying for food and i was sorting G out so she had to wait a few mins. Now she keeps coming off the breast and crying in pain so that sounds like the reflux kicking in after the crying. Hows your day going?

Awful.....non stop crying, his hardly slept.
Fingers crossed you get somewhere darling xxx

Sorry to crash! Hope all is ok Maisie? And Munchkin..is it reflux or constipation or both?! Are you still on gaviscon? x

Well what a total waste of time. Saw a different doctor in the hope i might get new answers but sadly not. He said winding is the key as the tummy will be full of gas which then mwans the milk doesnt go as far into the stomach as it should and so comes back up. He said try and give Gaviscon more often. I explained getting it into her with water was too distressing for her so he asked if i could express. I told him i never had much luck with expressing and how much ebm would i need per sachet of Gaviscon and he said "oh about half and half"?!?! WTF?!?! Gaviscon is powder and milk is liquid so how the hell do you do half and half??? Then he suggested without saying it outright to switch to formula so she gets more Gaviscon!!! Never heard a GP recomnending stopping bfing before and i certainly wont be doing that!
So his final word was it should resolve itself by 6 months, carry on with Gaviscon and they wont give anything stronger unless its very very bad because she is so young. Absolute waste of bloody time
So sorry to hear you are still struggling too Munchkin and hi BB! I dont know about you but i feel like i cant enjoy having a newborn (and this will be my last which makes it more heartbreaking) because she is always either in pain or i am worrying about her xx

Bless you Maisie...I cant believe the differing opinions and advice given by gps...and to suggest the move to formula! Im sure your health visitor would disagree!
Little H is having gaviscon in every bottle and it really seems to help with the reflux....however the constipation is something else! Im now having issues getting anything from the gp other than give him cooled boiled water and speak to your HV about different milk...I spoke to HV..she advised giving the ready made cartons as they have more of a laxative effect! All very well but it is an expensive way to feed bubba...ive done it for a couple of days and he is still struggling but not so much as before....I cant do it forever tho....
Your right though..its all such a worry! x

Its just rubbish isnt it?? I feel quite sad.....

Is there a different gp that you could see? is it worth going to a and e?
24/07/2013 at 19:30
Maisie that makes me so sad for your little one. If it was their baby they wouldn't wait 6 months. Iv said it before but I really think a & e may be your best route
24/07/2013 at 19:31
The thing is i am not sure she is bad enough for a&e. 90% of the time she is happy and smiling, its just the odd day/episode. Its so hard to know what to do...

Maisie h is the same.. Today I reduced the sachets to one in a couple of feeds in a bid to ease the constipation and he was grizzly again.. When we went to a and e he laid there laughing which didn't help things! Just sent us back to our gp... We are seeing her again on Monday...

I'd at least ask for a referral
