Hi, I'm 16 + 1 and going to look at prams for the first time tomorrow!! Been looking online and like Mamas and Papas Pliko and Skate. I like the way the car seat can just clip onto the pram like it does on the Pliko...
    http://img4013.photobox.co.uk/883072278a82295ff414973d5e2a8284ab79731c0081f38095ee83a34cb1aa7b99cf0656.jpg

From what I can see on the website the Skate doesn't do this? You would have to take the pram off and it has to clip directly onto the chassis?
    http://img4013.photobox.co.uk/75563860c218a68fa6ee72f730800d532b761c4ab399546d355accbf549fa188fba2dc7f.jpg

Just wondering if anyone knows if this is the case or can the Skate be used in the same way as the Pliko?

    Thanks x

I've come to the same conclusion as you on that one dafodil... For me
being able to attach the car seat for short periods is something I want if I'm just popping somewhere to having to remove the pram first kind of defies the point. We're 99% sure we're going for the pramette because of this, although I do think the skate looks great apart from that, and so many others seem to be the same. We're off to the m&p outlet store to see if we can pick up a bargin.....gotta drive an hour and a half to the Swindon one so might be coming back with something today if we're lucky x

Ive ordered the Skate, When I went into mamas & papas I fell in love with it and as I dont drive baby will not very often be in car seat.
I had he silvercross 3d which is almost the same as the pramette when I had my daughter and although it was a good pram I def wouldnt buy it again x

Went to have a look at them today and the Skate looked as if it would be too big anyway for my boot. Really liked the Pliko so going to go back tomorrow for a try of it and see if it will fit in boot! Good deal in shop- Pliko pramette, car seat and isofix base, footmuff, changing bag and parasol all for ??541, would usually be ??741. I really like the polka dot but not sure if it's a bit girly? We're not finding out what we're having so need something unisex!! Looking forward to hearing how you have got on today kayssis!!

we got the pliko but have since got the icandy as i wasnt comfortable with how the pliko doesnt give you the option for baby to face you after 6 months. but it does seem really easy to use. we are lkeeping the pliko for my parents to use.

dont forget though that current guideline is that babies should not be in car seats for more than 2 hours at a time (they were only designed for quick trips) so we have not bothered with a car seat for our pram. i bought the carrycot so baby will use the carrcot! lol.

I've just ordered the Skate today esp as it's half price at the moment. The car seat does not clip into the carrycot. But I prefer it seperate anyway. I also like the fact that baby can face you in pushchair mode.

We ordered lime/black skate plus mimi polka dot car seat. Was just over ??420 total so not bad. x

That's a good point Tronski. Does anyone know of any other prams that when in pushchair mode baby can still face you? I really liked the Skate but just know it would be too big for our boot!

g/c If you want the baby to face you M&P do the Switch which is virtually same as the pilko except you can have baby facing you or forward facing x x

The skate isn't too big when folded down. OH measured the boot of my fiesta (older style) and it will fit in there.

We didn't have the most productive day....
I do really like the skate, BUT it seems to take up a lot of space and the girl in the shop who demonstrated it to us really struggled with it. Also as I said this morning, not keep on the practicality of having to take the seat unit off to attach the car seat.
I love the pilko pramette, BUT unsure about the reliance on zips..what if they break? And my OH thought the chassis seemed a bit flimsy. Would be an advantage if it could face either way but not top of my priority list. They did have a good deal on the pramette in prim colour but not good enough to have us decide today. So we're going to our local m&p's tomorrow as well as mothercare and john lewis and hopefully will be more convinced after that. Agh! It's so confusing! Keep me updated on what you decide dafodil x

Hope you have better luck tomorrow kayssis. I quite like the idea of having the pushchair facing me as well as having the option of facing out which makes things more confusing! Can't seem to find a travel system that has forward and rear facing pushchair and that the car seat clips directly onto pram and not the chassis! Been looking at the Switch like Mafia Princess suggested and really like it. Discussed with OH and think we'd rather have the rear facing pushchair option and we'll just have to cope with taking the pram off and clipping carseat in. Don't really think we'll be using the car seat an awful lot anyway.
I can't believe how much I've just ranted on about a bloody pram!!
    I'll keep you updated!!

Having spent the evening trawling the net I'm now starting to wonder about the icandy apple, with maxi cosi pebble car seat! Omg how can it be this difficult to choose the right pram?

Tempted to wait until after the babyshow in case any light is shed or any great deals...but 24weeks now, so in case of a 10-12week delivery time would be cutting it fine!
We'll see what tomorrow brings.....was pretty much set on the pramette until today x

i have bought the skate and i've already had a play with it, and then i have just ordered the new pink cybex aton to clip onto it, i walk mostly so the pram will be used the most, i only bought a compatible carseat for convenience in the car as then i only need to take the chassis then and can just whip the chassis out, pop it up and clip the seat on. but to be truthful i don't even see the point of taking the pram bit out with you if you are going to use the carseat??? it easily clips on and off. the problem with the pliko, is that if you want to clip the seat on, you have to piddle around making adjustments like laying the seat down and adjusting the footrest before you can clip the seat on, as these both need to be at a certain position when folding to prevent breaking it, also it doesn;'t fold as a pramette, it has to be put back in a pushchair position.

also i wanted one that folded more flat and square than thin and long, as we will be having to buy a 7 seater car, and we all know boot space is rather lacking in these, so a flat one would be better.

also daffodil, i did a little test as to which cars i could get the chassis in, and it will fit in my sisters corsa at an angle, when my maclaren wont even fit in that as it is too long. but wont fit in my step mum ka, hope that gives you some idea of whether it will fit xxxx

Well just had a great time in mothercare, both really happy with the mychoice, does essentially the same as the skate but compatible with maxi cosi car seat which gets better reviews than the primo from m&p's and they do babyplan which means order now and pick delivery date, pay now or in installments ??500 for the pram and car seat then ??105 for the isofix base. Off to john lewis to investigate the iCandy but think the price difference probably won't be worth it. Had a play with the bugaboos but can't justify the price difference v benefits. I'm going to sound like such snob saying this, but just not sure about getting a mothercare branded pram?! Did go back to m&p's but the sturdyness and quality didn't seem anywhere near as good, even if they are prettier

We've been quite lucky as a friend is donating us her M&P's Luna buggy, and all I'd like to do is buy the extra pram to go with it which is still available. Am so chuffed as it's the style of buggy I've been looking for!!! I'm not keen on 3 wheeled buggies as I think they look odd lol, and am also not keen on seeing babies in car seats on pram frames as they looked so squished in and uncomfortable bless um!!

Hi everyone, had a bit of an eventful day- pram related! Went back to Pram centre and tried the Switch but it wouldn't fit in the boot! Really liked it as well. So went back later on and tried the skate and it fits in the boot but only if I remove 2 of the wheels which isn't ideal. Don't know what to do. Have seen another online- Bebe Confort Loola Up which seems to do everything I want and also going by dimensions will fit in the boot. Googled reviews and it's got some bad ones but also lots of good ones. I'm so confused!!
