Hi - does anyone know when you are meant to be given your maternity certificate? I had my 20 week scan yesterday and thought I would get it then, but forgot to ask until after I had left- doh! I've got to go back as the sonographer couldn't see everything , so don't know if thats got anything to do with it.

    When did you get yours?
    Thanks.

    MAT B1 - Maternity Certificate
MAT B1 is the medical evidence given to the employee by the doctor or midwife showing the expected date of confinement (childbirth). Evidence is acceptable if it is signed from the start of the 20th week before the EWC.

The employee must produce medical evidence of the date the baby is due, usually the MAT B1, but the employer can accept other medical evidence providing it shows the date the baby is due.

I'd just ask for one at your next mw appt, if it's not soon, give them a call asking for it.

I asked for mine at my 25 week midwife appointment, but as I was only 24+6, she said she couldn't give me one. She said it has to be issued after 25 weeks

They dont issue the MAT B1 at your scan appointment. Yr MW or GP can give you it! xxx

It can be issued after 20 weeks.

Thanks ladies - wasn't sure what the norm was. I am finding that the various people I see don't tell me everything and I haven't a clue what to expect - when to book another appointment etc! I am seeing my GP surgery midwife at 25 weeks so will just ask her then. I was just getting concerned that I couldn't fill out my matrenity form at work as I needed the MATB1 form!
