I need a new winter jacket. I'm 8+5 today, and I don't know what to do for the best with regards to said jacket. I could buy a jacket in my normal size or the size above, but all being well, I keep thinking in my head about how long it would practically last / fit for. I'm due mid-July, and keep thinking I'll probably be in a jacket until April time (I can't think when I'd normally be in one until!), so maybe I should look at Maternity ones? But then obviously they are likely to drown me now....
What do you think I should do? I don't really want to buy two jackets...

I'm not sure if buy a maternity coat tbh, unless it was fairly cheap. I think you'd be out of a coat and into a jacket about March/April time- are you due July?
I'd buy something slightly bigger now to get you through the worst of the winter and then you can use it when you're not pregnant in the future. If you need something come March April time buy something lighter in maternity.
I've got a coat from m&s that's a Parker style coat and it'll fit me for months to come I think. It's only in the size up.

I'm just wearing my normal coat with only the top button done up (cheapskate alert!!!) and I'm still toasty warm so I'm sure a coat the next size up would be fine - and hopefully there'd be more of a choice too than the maternity ones!

I managed without last time for a June baby, and am planning to do the same this time. I look about 6 months at the moment, but my coats are still doing up ok, and hopefully will for a little while.

I'm 32 weeks just now and still fit in my size 10/12 coats. 2 I can still completely fasten and 2 I can button the top or wear open. I tend to wear scarves which cover the gap anyway.
I wouldn't buy a maternity coat.

I've never worn maternity jackets / coats (one baby born jan, one born July) as just went with regular coats and put a big pashmina on to fill the gap when needed.

I'm actually wearing my works coat, it's a mens regatta jacket in a medium. Because it's a mens cut it still just about goes over bump at almost 37 weeks. I couldn't justify paying for a maternity coat for the wear it will actually get

I need a coat and am trying to get one I like on eBay, a maternity one. The good bit is that they seem to hold their value so if you need one, you might not lose too much on it.
I have been layering mostly but it's got colder and I'm thinking about when there's been snow in feb and March so I definitely think it's a good idea for me. I have no coats that do right up any longer.

I did buy a mat coat but I am due in feb and it was a great investment rather than buying a size up. I think if I wasn't due until the summer I wouldn't bother but then I've always had a none existent bump. I got one for £50 which I didn't think was too bad considering I wear it everyday.

Thanks all! I think I keep thinking that one day soon I'm going to wake up and look like I will when I'm near the end...! Will go for a coat in my size / size above depending on how comfortable it is! Great idea with the scarves. What would I do without you lot to talk sense in to me!

I bought a coat from mango a size bigger that has a belt tie. My best friend shoved jumpers up it to make sure it would continue to cover a growing bump! I'll get loads of use out of it next winter without a bump too!
I didn't feel it was value for money buying a specific mat coat when there are other options. If you decide to go for it though there are some reasonable priced ones on ASOS.
