We have finally joined the masses and got a Cabriofix carseat. Just wondering roughly what age / weight you took out the wedge and then the head hugger ?

I took the wedge out at about 5 weeks IIRC so prob around 11lbs. It could have come out much sooner tho, prob didn't need it at all. We have a britax seat this time and took the wedge out after a few days. Head hugger was just when their head no longer fit in it, can't remember when that was

A was big (98th centile and above) and IIRC we took it out at about 5 weeks, so 13-14lb. I hadn't realised you could take just foam wedge out without the headhugger, so may have been able to use just the HH for longer if I'd known.

Oh god Henry's 7months and 15lb, still in! Tried I without wedge a month ago but as I sits them more upright, when he fell asleep his head fell forward and I didn't like it

About 5 weeks for the wedge here too, Sam is very tall so was much comfier without. We still have the HH, I didn't know that could be removed actually!

O was about 4-5 months when we took them out.

I'm glad I asked now as she is alraedy 5.5 weeks, although I think she is smaller than some of yours LOs although being a bad mummy I haven't actually had her weighed since she was discharged by the midwives when she was 2 weeks old and weighed 6lbs 15oz.
I put her in it with the wedge and her shoulders were way above the bottom shoulder slot so I was a bit confused.

We took E's out at about 10 weeks old I think as she used to scream every time we put her in the car seat - and she is only a tiny one, only about 11lb now at 16 weeks!! I checked on the MaxiCosi website and they confirmed that the wedge is purely comfort and not a safety feature. E magically stopped screaming when we removed it!!

Poor T is tipping the scales at 18lbs at 22 weeks and I've been squeezing him in with the wedge now I feel terrible! You think I would know what I was doing he is my 2nd after all ......

Oh M is 13 weeks and was 11ib 7oz last week. Perhaps I should see how she is without it. What is the actual point of it anyway?
20/08/2013 at 20:05
Lol. Heidi still had the wedge in too!!
20/08/2013 at 20:10
Not till he was 14 weeks I think (I can't remember with A)

JB - are our babies not 4 and a half weeks? Or have I lost a week somewhere lol?
20/08/2013 at 20:53
Erm, you could be right actually. Oops. So are they 5 weeks on Thursday then ?
20/08/2013 at 21:11
Yep lol (I just had to check on the calendar)

W is 12 weeks tomorrow and weighed in at 14lb 10oz on the 5th of August and I still had the wedge in because I didn't know it came out. His head is too high up for the head hugger, but hopefully if I take the wedge out it might help! He did look a little cramped in there.

What's the wedge? I had no idea we needed to take it out (whatever it is) and Robyn's almost 5 weeks now so sounds like ill need to be removing it soon
21/08/2013 at 22:35
The wedge is a piece of foam attached to the head hugger TT, you can take it out and baby will sit deeper in the seat. My babies always looked much more comfortable when it was out

I think E was a few months old when I took it out. I took the headhugger out later - once she'd outgrown it.
They're such good carseats - E still fits in hers now at nearly 16 months old!
