we had a busy weekend getting started on the nursery , it looks fab so I'm very happy and excited.
i can't sleep tonight as you can see its, 4.50 am and I'm on mD!
i have the first of my appts this week.
today is my 20 week midwife appt, any ideas what to expect?
weds I'm back with the consultants
friday I have my 20 weeks scan
so I have a busy baby week
how are you all?

I bet the nursery is looking lovely, are you pleased with it? A busy week for you and not long until you get to see baby again.
I can't sleep either, I seem to wake up at 5am every day. Very annoying.
I've had a lovely birthday weekend and my toothache seems to be nearly gone, thankfully. Listened to happy feet again yesterday and showed hubs, he loved it. Only a couple of weeks until my next scan now too.

Monnie, how lovely! So pleased you're excited. Don't think I had a 20 wk midwife appt, so can't help there. Are you finding out the flavour on Friday??
Imp - blooming marvellous that birthday celebrations weren't hampered by the tooth!! Are you having a gender scan or is it for something else?
I'm just knackered! But good things are happening at home and work so can't complain! I'm having very weird dreams and struggling to switch off so more effort needed on my part. I know how to do it, I just need to apply myself. Baxter did some huge moves yesterday that really took my breath away. I don't like the big turns! Love the kicks and wobbles and shoves but the massive ones leave me queasy, and baby still isn't big yet so I'd better get used to it, ha ha.
Hope Monday isn't too tough for everyone and is soon over!! :)

Glad things are good counter, long may it continue! Did you sort out the room you started to tidy ?
I'm having a scan at 17 weeks as the consultant wanted one. It's actually meant to be 16 weeks but the consultant isn't running a clinic that week, so it's the week after instead. I think it's because this is where it all started to go wrong last time. I'm pretty nervous about it but the Doppler is helping keep me a bit calmer.,

Oh Imp, sorry, I didn't think of it as being precautionary in that way. I can see how the doppler must be priceless for you. And an extra scan is lovely, I had two 20 wk scans and it was great to get another good look. Hope the scan comes round quickly for you.
The room is nearly empty, with what we sold/gave away but it's all a bit up in the air. We've furniture to go up to Harry but his rooms aren't done, then carpenters, glaziers, electricians and a wallpaperer coming out to quote this week (about 8 appointments total) so it's a long haul. I've turned my mind to storage! Making the most of cupboards and alcoves and just trying to maximise places things can go. All 3 of us are fairly relaxed about being tidy so I'm strategising - from bed mostly - ha ha! Can't wait to have an almost-finished house.
AR, glad you said that about the big movements. I remember when I had Harry (who was 9lb 5) telling my Gran I really didn't like the whole-body turns and made me feel a bit sick and she told me I just wasn't normal ha ha! And... I was going to post about my frequent, random dreams but didnt. So weird, sometimes 3 or 4 a night, but I drift back off and forget most of them by morning. But they're strange! Hope you get more sleep tonight, bedtime seems so very far away right now! :( And great news about P. What a result!

AR, booo to a bad nights sleep! :(
Counter, don't worry, I'm fine with it all really and like you say hopefully it's just an extra time to see baby. I'd just like the next 5 weeks to be gone now.
It sounds like you've a lot on your plate with all the work you've to do in the house!

It's a girl counter we found out Xmas day :-)
I'm now 21 weeks but midwife was on holiday last week haha
Imp I'm so glad they are monitoring you and you have your doppler, how are you feeling in general about the pregnancy now?
Counter, iv had some of them I call them washing machine moves
Awes AR she's a big girl now :-)

I'm feeling ok Monnie. Terrified about the 20wk scan really, I just so desperately hope this little one is healthy and all looks ok. I am trying not to think that far ahead just yet. Does anyone know what they'll look at in the 16/17 weeks scan? Is it just to look at baby or will they check anything?

Imp I know you had a nt scan and bloods but did they offer you a quad test aswell?
I think the 20 week scan is more in depth they look at all the bones and organs etc
13/01/2014 at 08:14
Sorry WTF is a rutabaga
13/01/2014 at 08:28
I know the 20wk one is, I know that's where they check the anatomy etc. it's the 16wk one I'm unsure of, I'm wondering if they'll try and check some of the stuff they usually do at 20 weeks at 16 weeks?
Not offered the quad, I'm not sure if we'd need it. The nt and bloods were low risk. We have been offered an amnio but we've opted against it.

It's a girl counter we found out Xmas day :-)
I knew that! Soon as I pressed Post I did a facepalm. :)

Imp, I'd have thought it would be general anatomy, growth, placenta placement and health, nothing very in-depth but a bit of everything? It's hard for us to know as it's not a routine scan, but it must fall somewhere between the basics of a 12 wk and the detail of a 20 wk? It will help reassure you, anyway, which will be lovely.
13/01/2014 at 08:53
I was thinking that counter, I hope so anyway.

Hi everyone! Guess this is me joining you all officially.... eeek.
Monnie - How exciting. Will we get to see any flashes? :) Gosh that is a busy baby week! Can't help with what to expect though.
Imp - How lovely. I bet you're finding the doppler really reassuring. Just seen your comment about the 17 week scan, at least thats a nice break in between the wait for 20 weeks. I'm sure everything will be just fine for you xx Maybe you'll be able to find out about the gender? (If you're planning to?).
Counter - Glad things are going well for you at the moment! You're mind is probably in overdrive with all the work on your house you are doing!
Autumn - Great news about P's first night! You hear so many horror stories!
Can't believe I'm here, and that I'm 14 weeks tomorrow. Everyone knows now (apart from my work...) and its quite nice but also quite bizarre. I'm finding it hard going from keeping how rough I've been feeling to myself to having people constantly ask me how I am etc. A friend who I told on Friday text me yesterday to ask me if the sickness had gone. *Facepalm*. I only told her 2 days before how sick I'd been being! I know its just them showing they care but I did think please don't start asking me this every day. How will I ever cope when due date is round the corner and people start asking 'have there been any signs yet?!'!
I haven't purchased anything baby related yet but think I'm going to start soon. I was going to hold off until 24 weeks, but I'm getting impatient and I think its probably wiser for us to start buying bits and spreading the costs. Not going to buy anything big like nursery furniture or prams etc until later though. The things I've been looking at to buy relatively soon are our baby monitor, moby sling, and changing bag.

AutumnRoseMonnie don't say that I cried when we put her to bed in there last night! My baby is growing up :-(. Counter if I remember rightly the next few weeks are the biggest movement wise. By mid 30s they run out if room and can't spin so much. Bizarrely vivid dreams are because of the hormones apparently. I spent all night tossing and turning between them. Not fun.
Oh AR, bless you. I bet she looked tiny compared to her 'massive' bed?! All those milestones... I welled up when Harry had his first driving lesson. I was beside myself the summer he left primary school!!!
I think you're right, these types of moves, although they'll increase now, they do phase out because baby is kind of wedged lol. And yes, I keep reading in my apps about the dreams, I had some traumatic ones in the beginning, very upsetting, now they're just plain weird which is easier :)
I was reading in an app about kick-counting from 28 weeks. I think it was US-based advice but said something like '10 kicks minimum every 2 hours'. And talked about keeping proper records (I never did with Harry). I know that at work it's sometimes 3 hours and I don't feel a thing at all. I don't want to go down that road as it's heading in one direction... - any thoughts?

Morning all - I'm off today so actually get to contribute to the thread. Yay!!
Monnie - hope you're holding up ok after your early start. Sounds like you've made lots of progress with the nursery. Enjoy your busy baby week. Exciting!!!!
Imp - I'm so glad that your tooth is starting to feel much better, long may it continue!!! Glad you had a lovely birthday weekend and that the doppler is really helping you stay calm. This pregnancy has been so different for you.
Counter - sorry your feeling so tired. Crazy dreams are annoying!!!!
AR - thats great P had her first night in the new room and you didn't have any issues. Hope you have a good day.
AFM - Monday off, I absolutely LOVE them!!!!! Today I'm planning to clear out my clothes a bit because I've got lots of stuff that I don't wear any more and its taking up room in my wardrobe. I'm also planning some housework but we'll see how much I get done. I don't want to be running around all day so I'm planning some breaks in between getting stuff done.
Question for you all - when did you start to feel your first movements? I'm only 15 weeks but every now and again I think "what was that?". I'm not sure if its my imagination but I think sometimes I might feel something ever so slight but then maybe not.
Happy Monday everyone
