    PM
    A positive emergency section
I went in on Monday 2nd November with cases packed we headed to Torbay hospital to be induced. On arrival the midwives were wonderful and everything was explained to me. I was 1 cm dilated so the first lot of gel was inserted - then we waited 6 hours with about 3 contractions every 10 minutes- still only 1cm, so another gel and another wait. Tuesday morning the 3rd lot of gel was inserted and whilst there was a little progress my waters still couldn't be broken. Normally you only have three lots of gel but they did one more and it seemed to be doing the trick. I was having quite strong contractions through the night and was hopeful that the morning would bring good news.
A night of terrible pain and the internal revealed that they could break my waters and that i was def in active labour.
We were wheeled up to the delivery suite - it was my own room with tea and coffee facilities and a cd player - quite nice really!
Anyway the next bit was nasty - 2 midwives tried to break my water and couldn't - ouch ouch ouch - and then the Dr came in and i was thinking - he has really fat fingers this is going to hurt. 2 minutes later and they broke. I declared my undying love to him at this point! Was connected to the syntocin drip also at this point.
The contractions were getting really strong and i was on gas and air - i have honestly never felt pain like it and before long was begging for an epidural. 2.5 hours later and they had forgotten so i had a shot of diamorhine and we waited again.

The first epidural worked to start but they i started feeling my left side even with top ups - again i was like a woman possessed and begged for it to be fixed - they fiddles around with it and it worked for about 30 minutes but then the pain was back with avengeance. It was decided that the first epidural would be removed and a new one would be resited and this one worked a treat. Through the night we were progressing nicely and got to 8cm in the evening. The next morning i was still 8 cm and 6 hours after that i was still 8 cm -grrrrrrr

The consultant came in to see me and said that the baby was back to back and his head was swollen and she did not think i would progress any more and that a section would be the best option. Hubby agreed and down to theatre we went. It was all so relaxed and whilst i was worried it really wasn't a bad experience. We heard the first cry and held this perfect little thing that we had created.

Toby then started grunting and was quite blue and had a rash so he was whipped off to special care - this was heart wrenching and truly the worst thing i have ever experienced. Any was - it was his blood sugar level that was the problem and as soon as this was sorted he was back with me.

I have already posted about the breast feeding so wont go into that but it was traumatic!

We are now home and i love everyminute of being with Toby. He is so unbelievably amazing - i still cannot believe he is mine (sorry Simon ours!)

A huge thank you to my wonderful bump buddy - PAVY - you were awesome throughout and even mad me laugh - thank you x
