Before i begin, this is quite a bit longer than i meant it to be, but then, i had a very long time of it, so get a cup of tea/coffee and a biscuit before you start!
My Birth Story
Friday 24th May I was 8 days over due and starting to feel like I was going to be pregnant forever. It was my little brothers birthday, so we popped over to see him after H finished work to give him his card and wish him a happy birthday. About 8pm, just as we were getting ready to leave I felt a very sore pain in my lower back. I’d been suffering from Braxton hicks for a couple of weeks, and my back had been aching every now and again for some time, but this time it felt different, more intense. We got home for dinner and sat down on the couch to watch a film and at about 8.30pm I started to feel what felt like period type cramping, again, different to what I’d felt before, it wasn’t sore, or particularly painful, but it was uncomfortable enough for me to notice and take a mental note of when I’d felt it, although I didn’t time it at all. I felt the same discomfort again around 9.15, and again about 10pm. By 11pm H and I decided to go to bed. Although I was feeling the discomfort, It wasn’t bad enough to stop me from sleeping, however an hour later I was back up again. The cramping was feeling getting a little sore, and rather than annoy H, I got up and went and spent the rest of the night sleeping at 15 minute intervals. By 4am I was knackered, knowing that nothing would have resulted in my 4 hours of ‘early labour contractions’ I went through to H and asked him to get up with me.
Saturday 25th May 9 days overdue now and the pathetic contractions continued. They weren’t excruciating, but were very uncomfortable and had almost settled into a pattern of being roughly a minute long and being 8 minutes apart. I started to feel like I needed to pee every time I had a contraction and at one point the pain got to the point I was in tears, but I knew that the hospital wouldn’t want to know until I was labouring at 3 -5 minutes for a good few hours. I had barely slept and having told immediate family what was going on, I was being inundated with texts and calls to see how I was doing. Nothing changed as Saturday went on and the contractions petered out in the evening, much to my frustration.
Sunday 26th 10 days overdue and it was at my sisters birthday, and I was awoken by an almighty contraction to the point I couldn’t move or speak and I thought this might be it! Another couple hours of these kind of contractions and I’d be on my way to meeting my baby! Sadly that wasn’t the case. The contractions began to spread out to 15 minutes and were back to being the pathetic sort of sore, but manageable state again. I decided I was going over to my mums to have a bath as we only have a walk in shower. Once at my mums, I went for a bath and a lie down and the contractions completely disappeared. H wanted me to go to the hospital and get checked out, but I refused as I really didn’t think anything was actually happening…I was hopeful something might be, but I was pretty sure that given how pathetic my contractions had been, there wouldn’t have been any movement. We decided to stay at my mums that night and again the contractions disappeared overnight.
Monday 27th In the morning, my mum stayed off work with me and we chatted away and my contractions were nowhere to be seen. I was getting increasingly frustrated with my H who was getting quite uptight about me going to the hospital. I told him he was stressing me out and that this wouldn’t be helping me any

What a fab story, well done for writing it down. Your build up was very much like mine, with days of contractions and not getting anywhere. I can still remember the exhaustion very clearly!! Congratulations again, your little man has the same birthday as me. It's a good one, worth waiting for!

Well done, lovely story. I too had days of pointless stop-start contractions (5 days in total) of contracting every 2-3 minutes but to no avail. I am so glad that you feel happy with your experience, they're so worth it x
