I've been batch cooking for O, so fruit purée and veg. In an attempt to find out what else he might be allergic to, I've been using those ellas kitchen and hipp organic pouches so then I know he's fine with something, then I cooked my own.
He won't eat my cooking! I thought he was maybe just tired, no fussy for food as he would take maybe 2 spoonfuls then turn his head and blow it back at my raspberry style but that's twice now I've opened a pouch and offered it too him and he's eaten it (he fusses on the first spoonful until he actually tastes it and then turns back around and opens his mouth).
What am I doing wrong! I don't have a steamer so have been oven cooking the likes of sweetpotatoes and just par boiling apples and pears. He's slightly better with my home cooked fruit that the veg. I gave him carrots the other day and he was having none of it, but then ate the ellas kitchen carrot pouch. Do you think it's because I'm not steaming them? Did anyone else have this problem with their LO?

Check the pouch ingredients you might find they are sweetening the veg ones with fruit juice or mixing it with fruit so your home made wont be assweet and thats why he is refusing. we mainly did baby led weaning but had pouches for out and about and I noticed lots of the veg ones were sweetened with fruit.

Thanks drifter, this one was just carrots, so 82% carrots, 18% water according to the packaging. We've tried ones that are carrots and apples etc but I got these to see if it was my cooking lol!

Is your purée as smooth as the pouches? I found the pouches super smooth and it's pretty impossible to get anywhere near that texture with home cooked stuff!

F didn't like my cooking either. He refused to eat anything I'd made and we ended up having to resort to pouches and jars for the most part. Some of then can be sweeter but I always tried to limit how much he had those ones. It could be a texture thing but then F took to lumps without any problem.

Noodle I wondered about the texture as the pouches are super smooth and with things like carrots I can't get them like that but my apple purée was as smooth and he didn't really want that either, plus were doing some finger foods too and although he does still wretch a bit it doesn't deter his from still eating anything he has so I don't think it's the lack of silky smooth.
WG I'm glad to hear it wasn't just O, I do feel rubbish about it though. After him refusing my food on thurs and fri and sat morning I caved and bought a load of jars and pouches on sat so I have a load of food to last for the next month lol! I'm hoping to introduce more lumpy food and a lot more finger food by then anyway so hopefully I can try my rubbish cooking again and he can just have more of what we are having.
I posted on your post again the other day to see if you had heard back ok from the hospital?xx
