I was just wondering, how often did/do you change your new babies? O is 4 weeks and since birth I've changed him after every feed and when I hear him fill his nappy at any point during the day. He now goes a bit longer between feeds and I notice the difference in his nappies in terms of how much he was pee'd when I change him.
He's not uncomfortable, they've never leaked and his bum is fine (no rash etc). Is every 4 hours (5 at one night feed) ok to change or should I do a change inbetween?

I would think that is fine. F goes 12 hours overnight without a change and it does him no harm!

He'll be fine . Nappies are designed to hold wee for longer periods (think babies sleeping through) I know o slept through at 8wks for 8/9hrs and both his bum and nappy were fine

We do the same as you - every feed and if he fills it inbetween. He has started sleeping 11 hours straight through at night (I don't expect it to last!) and he doesn't seem irritated by the wet nappy even though it weighs a ton in the morning! I slather baby bottom butter on at night to protect his bottom a bit and he has no nappy rash. I think he will be fine.

Think we did the same, but didn't change at night unless pooed for S. We changed more regularly when we moved to cloth as they weren't quite as absorbent, so every 3hrs or so during the day.

I've never changed either if mine at night, unless it was obviously leaking, never been a problem.

Thanks all. OMG popcorn, 11 hours! That's unreal!
LWO I thought the clothes would last a bit longer than 3 hours, I'm planning onto clothes as soon as O is big enough.
BG do you mean you don't change them even if they are up feeding? I so over think things!x

I change when it feels squishy in the day and at night would only ever change a pooey one. No need to disturb them otherwise and night changes are hard work.

I do the same as you, at each feed and bonus ones for extra poo. A sleeps for 6-8 hours now before waking for a feed in the night, I still do his nappy as I tried leaving it and it just leaked and gave me a bigger job to sort in the morning every time! He must be a big bag of wee at night!

TT do you mean you lift and change him even if he's not woken during the 6-8 hours?x
