    Hi,

I have my first scan on Wednesday - I'll be just short of 12 weeks. I'm so nervous about it and find myself thinking about it all the time. I'm not letting myself get excited and am playing it all down with my husband. I'm just worried that they'll turn around and say they can't find anything.

Did anyone else feel like this?

Hi gingalady! I felt the same, i think its perhaps because i had no morning sickness or anything this time so i worried that they'd tell me there was nothing there! Also, because at this early stage you don't have a big bump and you can't feel the baby move, makes you feel that way too! Don't worry, i'm sure you'll be fine! I have my 20 week scan on Tuesday and can't wait. Hope all goes well with you - Lucy 20 + 2

Yeah i was so nervous they wouldnt find a heartbeat, its so natural to get nervous you wait you have got another 6months atleast of worrying about things.
I thought to myself once the 1st scan is out of the way il be fine but your mummy hormones kick in and you worry about your baby inside you.
So its natural to feel the way you do and i wouls love to say dont worry but you will, just remember its perfectly normal to have concerns.
Good luck with the scan and the feelings you will have when you are holding that 1st picture of your little baby are very special and your worries will fade away....for a while haha

i was exactly the same i was petrified seriously i almost fainted when i when into the scanning room and the women in there were brilliant they sat me down explained what they were gonna do and as soon as they put the scanner to my belly they said theres the heartbeat because they knew i was in such a state after that i calmed down alot and my boyfriend started crying coz he could see the baby so clearly (i was 17 weeks) it was the most amazing experience of our lives,
its normal to be nervous but try to enjoy it xxx

It's ok to be nervous for your first scan. I know I was with my first baby. But the scan was absolutely fab, the first chance to see that there really was a baby in there! I ended up enjoying my scan, and I cried happy tears all the way home!!!

Every woman thinks this trust me! If they say they didn't then they are lying lol. With my first i was utterly convinced that i was somehow deluded and that there was no way anything could be in there and that i would look stupid when the sonographer turned round and told me so but lo and behold my son was moving away and i was gobsmacked! I had a molar pregnancy in August and then and my 12 week scan there was nothing only an empty sac measuring 6 weeks but then i knew something wasn't right i just had this huge feeling that i wasn't pregnant so this time i was convinced the same would happen but after 3 scans one at 6 weeks one at 8 weeks and one at 12 weeks i'm finally allowing it to sink in! I'm 16 weeks now and don't worry about molar pregnancy's as these are extremely rare for every 1000 live births 1 molar is reported so didn't put that into scare you. you will be fine and can't wait to hear about your experience after your scan on here enjoy it!

I also have my first scan on Wednesday. And I am a mixture of excitement and dread. I've had no morning sickness or any real pregnancy symptoms so I'm worrying like mad that there will be nothing in there or something wrong with the baby. I think it's completely normal to feel like this. If not then everyone else is made of stronger stuff than me. Good luck on Wed. Suz x

I have my first scan on Wednesday too and I am so worried as I only found out 2 days ago that I am probably about 13 weeks pregnant, it was such a shock. I did 2 clearblue tests and both came up positive. I am so scared that on Wednesday there will be nothing there. Although my pregnancy was not planned I am so happy that I am going to be a mum and will be devastated if nothing comes up on screen....

im sure all will be fine but reading these comments im so happy that its not just me feeling like this

Hi guys - I felt exactly the same. It's because there are so many horror stories now. I am 15 weeks at the moment and I worry every single day that something is going to go wrong. I've got my heartbeat appointment on Wednesday with my midwife and I'm now worrying that she won't find a heartbeat. It's a never ending circle of worry! You'll be fine - but I'm sure I read more sad than happy stories now and that's what freaks me out!! X
