E cut the first of her two top front teeth on Monday. This one has been really hard on her and she's been screaming (proper adult-like screaming) with it. I'd hoped that once the tooth actually cut she would settle a bit, but this morning has been beside herself again. When I looked in her mouth it looks as though a flap of gum is sitting over the tooth like a cap, is that normal?

Poor E :o( I can't help with the flap bit i'm afraid but when A cut his 1st few teeth he was a right little grump too. I either gave him Ashton and Parsons (took me weeks to get hold of it) or I found 2-3 doses of calpol through the day settled him a little too.
If your worried about the cap thing perhaps give your HV a visit x
Hope E feels better soon x

She has granules regularly and Calpol at night. I found with the previous two teeth that once they'd cut she instantly felt better. This one is just being awkward!

Have you tried Anbesol? It's liquid lidocaine, and numbs the area instantly, when J has teeth in the process of popping through he really appreciates it. I'm not sure about the flap thing, I haven't noticed anything similar with J but he's not that keen on my looking in his mouth, so it's hard to tell. Hope E's feeling better soon.

We have Anbesol. She's not too keen on it to be honest! I think we have just about every teething remedy going as she 'teethed' for months it seemed when waiting on the first two. I just had another look and the weird flap is still there :( I'm off tomorrow so might give the HV a call. I can live in hope that they'll have something useful to say!

Could be that the other front one is on its way too?' They say they come in pairs. As for the flap, I remember having something like that when my wisdom teeth came through, it will just receed and go away as the tooth comes through more. Hope she gets some relief soon, poor little mite, teeth are buggers! X x

I had a flap like that with my wisdom tooth too, it did just disappear. Hope she feels better soon, I've been able to see the top two under the surface for AGES! They're taking forever and hes gnawing on everything too. Poor babies.
