I'm new on here, expecting at the beginning of april and basically have been looking around at other threads and the topic i really hoped to talk about doesn't get much interest but here goes:
Stem Cell storage.
There it is, please if you have any experience or opinions let me know. I have done a little research and can't make up my mind whether to go for it or not!
hopefully hear from some of you soon! x

I had a look into this, there are only three hospitals in the UK (although common in America) doing anything and they're all in London, I think cord blood should be taken from everyone and stored in a national database, with the option to opt out in your green notes if you wanted, it would help to save millions of lives and I think it will happen one day but will probably be a good 10 years off.

The NHS ones are all in London, although I presumed if you were using a private company you could do it anywhere.

I've just received a welcome pack from cells4life, thanks PixieP. So far they are being really helpful. I'm with the NHS as well but they said they can arrange a phleb to come to my hospital..
I looked at the others but only requested the welcome pack from cells4life because it says on their website that they collect more cells than the others and also pick up 24 hours. Just incase he/she decided to make a visit at 3am!! Exciting!
I asked about donating and they said they don't recommend it because you don't know how many treatments you might need from your stem cells...What do you think?

Yes good idea! I think i'm going to go with Cells4Life as well. I was hoping to hear lots of peoples opinions on stem cell storage but not many people seem interested? Now i know more i'm like you and thinking of it as a safety net!! If i have lots of baby's i'll try and do it for all of them now!!
Hope your pregnancy goes well..assuming the LO's keep to schedule then you'll be first won't you so maybe you'll be in a position to put my mind at ease when i'm panicking! If my one decideds to get out early then vice versa!
Speak soon xxx

Private cord blood banking is a great investment in the future of your family. Whether this child or any of your other potential children develops some kind of disease, you would have the cord blood stem cells available for treatment. This gives you more options to treat diseases and you don't have to wait around looking for a matching donor. To compare the prices of and services offered by the major cord blood banking companies, check out this link: http://cordadvantage.com/product-comparison
