Right, I've posted one too many miserable threads over the last few days, it's time for something more light hearted! Was having this discussion with NCT friends the other day...what are your non-baby essentials that you wouldn't be without now you've got LOs? Mine are dry shampoo, a thermos mug thing and my smartphone or iPad. I am lost without all of these things. What are/were yours?

My smartphone too, so helpful in the middle of the night when I was sitting with J on my lap for the obligatory 25 mins until he was in a deep enough sleep to be transferrable into the cot!

Exactly what you said PC! And chocolate digestives hehe.

Kindle fire, for night feeds and the resulting half an hour of propping up the baby while he digests. At the beginning I just fed without doing anything wake at the same time and it was a real struggle not to drop off. The Kindle prevents me toppling over sideways with exhaustion!

I'm glad you're saying a Kindle; I've asked for one for my birthday next week as I thought it might be handy during feeding!

The day before I went into labour I opted to have some highlights put in. From previous experience I knew this would stop the need for the dry shampoo as it drys my hair a little! And thankfully I dont drink hot drinks so never have a problem there.

Kindle, cereal bars and a bobble. I've purposely grown my hair since I've been pregnant because I can't see me being bothered to straighten my hair every morning once 'noods' arrives. The cereal bars have been my go to during my nausea, great for when I'm out in the car and peckish, and I imagine useful for my hospital stay based on the hospital food the last time I stayed. I have also used them in the past for dieting. Maybe I should buy shares in cereal bars

New slippers abd PJs ready for night feeds and for staying in during the early days.
Spare credit card to pack in the change bag for the inevitable moment when you've taken your purse out for nipping to the shop or to interment shop and realise you have left it there.
A good coat with a hood, if you plan to use the pram mostly.
Agree with thermos mug and snacks.
Tesco delivery saver and updating my online shopping list for quick orders was essential here too.
Also nice soaps for the constant hand washing. And moisturiser for afterwards.
