I've been thinking about what practical things be done before baby comes, just to make things a LITTLE bit easier. For example, I've been slightly stockpiling household stuff like washing tabs, deodorants, loo rolls etc, to ensure we don't run out, give us less to think about when we shop, and less to buy when we're short on cash. I plan to do more of my 'double up' slow cooker meals after new year (eat half, freeze half). And also general stuff like clear the cars out, buy birthday cards and pressies (we've quite a few in April) early, that kind of thing.
Any other recommendations? Anything that might make life just that tiny bit easier?! We could both be back at work (though not full-time) after 2 weeks so it would be good to be prepared. Did you do anything in readiness?

Some of my ideas are probably baby related.
you could design birth announcement/do a template on online photo printing ready to order once baby is here, and set up a mail list of people you send them to, buy stamps etc.
set up/register and online food shopping
check mOT dates and insurance if it's due for renewal- put dates on the calendar if it's not immanent

Carole, exactly the type of thing I was thinking of! Thanks :)

Actually that's a good idea Popcorn. I don't tend to watch TV so am always cheesed off I've missed the start of yet another good series. If I start series-linking now I could end up with some decent stuff before baby comes!

Glad you said that popcorn! I have loads of box sets of various tv shows that I've ended up with as freebies via work. I've kept hold of them for that exact reason but everyone keeps telling me I won't have time to watch them!
Great thread Counter, I definitely need to get us organised!

I would second buying the stamps for birth announcement cards. It was lucky we did this as A hates the post office (I have no idea why, he's fine in any other shop!) Trying to think if we did anything else. Ooh, the birthday presents is a good idea. We had them organised for the first few months and it made it so much easier just to post them at the right time, without having to think about buying them.
Baby related, but check that you know how things like the steriliser work.
Will post if I think of anything else.

We had a huge clear out and made sure that everything was in its home and that we both knew where things were. Random bits like the scissors and celeotape and bits you think you won't need but end up needing.
I'd register for delivery saver with your favourite supermarket. We use tesco and save anything we regular buy to the shopping list bit to speed things up.
I made sure I'd some comfy kit in non maternity available.
I too got the car valeted and car seat fitted early.
Have numbers for cleaning/ironing lady available.
I wish we had researched the opening hours of our registry office as they have an appointment system.
I assume your LO will be going to child care so prior to E going we packed bags of wipes and spare clothes and nappies etc for that.
