hi ladies and bumps / LOs

anyone finding they are now getting nosebleeds when they NEVER had them before? or having them more frequently?

i had never had a nosebleed b4 being preg and now have had 2 - both were quite severe and literally had blood pouring down - scared me tbh and just wondering if anyone knows any triggers / prevention techniques. i really don't like them and would like them stop but i guess its another one of those lovely preg symptoms which we have to 'put up with'

    hmph!

    Hi,

I had my first nose bleed this week which took me by surprise as I have also never had one and didn't realise it is quite common in pregnancy. I did a quick google and it seems normal.

Prevention: Don't blow nose hard, keep mouth open when sneezing, drink plenty of fluids.

Treatment: Keep your head above the heart (ie dont lie down), hold nose to stop blood flow for at least 10 minutes. Do not take the pressure away during this time. Hope that it then stops. Try again. If not seek medical attention.

Cause: Increased blood flow causes blood vessels to expand.

Sorry that sounds really prescriptive - but is pretty much what I read on Tuesday night!

    Hope that helps

I have had them too despite never getting them before I was pregnant! I read that it is quite common but I can't remember of the top of my head what causes them. Mine haven't been too heavy but I would say I have been getting them once a week/once every fortnight! x x x
