She's 9 weeks (has flown!) and I weigh the same as I did the day after her birth. I walk 15+ miles a week, eat mostly Slimming World recipes/unprocessed foods, lots of fruit and veg, plenty of water. I'm using My Fitness Pal to ensure I don't overdo the calories. And NOTHING. I do drink alcohol but still stay within my calories and not enough to get drunk so I'm not knocking it back, as it were.
My size has gone up and down for 20 years so I have a bit of experience of how it reacts to changes, I'm about 3 stone over my body's 'normal' (not slim, just its favourite weight to be), so I thought (and what normally happens is) the first stone or more would come off relatively easily. Ha! :(
We're mix feeding. I am actually having quite a problem with water retention, some days I can barely walk come 7pm and others are fine. I'm seeing the GP for it. But I can't imagine the water being the cause of me not losing a single pound.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? I find it very weird, and frustrating

It could possibly be the water retention. Are you back on any contraceptives? A is only 9 weeks so obviously it's still early days but if you're counting calories and not losing anything at all, I'd probably mention it to the GP. I lost some weight in the few weeks after having F but I didn't really track it properly until I joined WW after my 6 week check.

I know a totally different senerio my husband ended up with massive fluid retention and had in fact gained three stone in fluid. It was all in his legs but also in his abdomen pressing on his diaphram and around his lungs. Really think you need to get the fluid retention sorted do you know what is causing the fluid retention. My husband had to have I.V. flurisemide to get rid of the fluid. He was and is still on fluid restriction currently one and half litres a day.

Hi WG, not taking any contraceptives, we're using condoms as we think we'd like to try for another before too long. I've got to go back to GP for blood results so will talk to her then about the weight. I had my 8 week appointment and didnt think to mention it! Mind you, it was a 10 second appointment :) I wondered whether some mums found it came off after they stopped BFing - I know, clutching at straws, most people say it accelerates weight loss!!
Crikey WF! Poor guy, scary stuff. That's a huge amount of weight to be holding in water.

He is OK now but it was not good during last summer, that is why I would say anything involving fluid retention needs to be taken seriously and sorted. We weren't aware of how much the fluid had built up.

i struggle with weight loss when bf

As WF said, I'd definitely get the water retention sorted as that could be a lot of it. It was just a thought about the contraception as I know that some types can cause weight issues. Hope the GP is able to help x

I've read that bf isnt the magic cure to weightloss that its reported to be! and that its full effect doesnt come in until around the 6 month mark I think.
Water retention aside, have you considered your portion sizes? I used to eat masses, it was all good healthy stuff but about twice what I needed. I cut back on them after Z was born, but still having real butter, green milk etc and I've lost 6 stone since my due date, Z will be one next month. Also maybe try mixing up the exercise a bit, I started off walking with the pram, but got stuck so started on 20-30 min videos I found on youtube while Zoe was in her bouncer.

While I lost some weight (down to BF I believe) right after birth it wasn't until the 6+ month mark that weight loss due to BF kicked in. As a random aside have you adjusted your calories on SW to account for BF just thinking if you don't have a BF allowence your bady may be fighting weight loss in order to keep up with BF demand. Hormones have a lot to do with weight loss and you're body is still going through lots of changes even though it's been 9 weeks since you gave birth. Weight loss is a long process so you have to be patient but it seems like you are doing a great job at eating healthy and getting some exercise in. Another piece to it is also sleep...not getting enough sleep (8-9hrs) will also cause you to retain more water which increases your weight on the scale (doesn't necessarily mean you've gained weight/fat). Couple suggestions, increase your exercising...try to do more intense cardio to get your heart rate up and feel out of breath/short of breath. Walking is great but if you aren't doing it up hill, fast, or bursts of fasts and slow then you aren't really doing too too much for fat burning. Another thing I've been hearing has been working well for water retention is Your Tea...its pretty much just a tea that has a lot of natural herbs to help diminish bloating and anything that may be sticking around in the tummy area. If you don't want to order that, try to do the program of your tea (3times a day before each meal) but with organic green tea with no sugar in it.

Thanks for the replies ladies! :)
Doc says blood test my kidneys aren't functioning properly, so am to have more tests. She's happy with my food and exercise and says to ignore the weight until we work out the water thing. I'm growing - well, swelling more than growing, I'm bigger and heavier. And I'm feeling pretty shabby these days too, long list of things that don't mean much on their own but definitely point to something not being right. Hopefully I'll know soon and get sorted.

Counter- I hope your tests go ok x
I lost lots of weight in the 1st week and then just stopped :(. Then again now I can eat after not being able to through the pregnancy, I just can't stop lol
However G is now 15 weeks, and my hormones have just started sorting themselves out I think, my hair is dropping out :(, I've had my second AF and I'm hoping the weight will follow (fingers crossed)

Thanks BLL. I lost 17lbs in the 24 hours after she was born, then NOTHING. Ggrr, ha ha. Not noticed hair yet, not looking forward to that. And it seems I have IBS triggered by pregnancy. It's lucky that babies are so darned LOVABLE else you'd never forgive them - I think I'm broken! :)
