Haven't titled this well, but here goes! My LO is nearly 4 and has never spent the night away from us. When I go into hospital she will go to a good friends house (where she has slept before, but we've always picked her up after a night out).
She will obviously be waking up somewhere completely different. I've spoken to her about it and she seems happy, but has anyone else been in this position and have any words of wisdom as to how to prepare her!
Thanks in advance

Can you have let her sleep there overnight in preparation beforehand?
I was going to suggest the same as Chimp...

Could she do a night there sooner? You obviously run the risk of her not liking it and then you fretting when the time comes, but it's an idea perhaps?
I'm assuming friend can't come and stay at yours?

Friend has her own kids so can't stay at ours. There's not going to be time now for her to stay the night as my friend works practically full time and I don't like to impose. I'm sure she'll be fine, but then wonder how she'll be when she wakes up.

She'll be fine, the excitement of the news she'll (hopefully) wake up to will help. F had spent one night away from us and it was ages before L was born, so I was nervous about her being at my m-i-l's for the night when I was in labour, but she was fine, slept surprisingly well and got thoroughly spoiled in the excitement of the occaision

Could you get a present from the babies to be left at the friends house and in the morning when she gets up your friend can take her to the front door and discover it and say it must have been left by the babies? Something to keep her happy and occupied in the morning at your friends and then also make her feel excited about getting to see the babies soon

That's a good idea! Thanks
