Hi. Although TTC for a while, this is my first month of properly using OPKs as I have fairly irregular cycles. I have been using ClearBlue Advanced Ovulation tests, which gave me a flashing smiley for 2 days and then a static smiley indicating that ovulation was on its way / about to happen within the next 24-36 hours. Alongside these, as I've not used them before, I used IC OPKs. The day I got a static smiley, my IC OPK came up the darkest it has been - but still didn't match the control line in terms of darkness. Since then, the lines have been of consistent darkness - not as dark as the day I think I may have ovulated, but still not light enough to be considered as fading away. So I have a question for you all -
1) Do you notice after ovulation reading that the test line gradually decreases, or does it disappear very quickly?
I'll be honest - I'm wondering whether the ClearBlue picked up potential ovulation, but it was just my body gearing up to do it and then not. I know I just need to be patient but that is soo hard sometimes! :)

I remember very well the torture of scrutinising OPKs! I used to surge 2-3 times before I ov'd some months. It would be dark for two days and fade over 2-4 days after that. Try if you can not to scrutinise the sticks as it won't tell you what you want to hear and you just torture yourself. Are you temping? It is a far more reliable way of telling wether you've ov'd or if it was just a surge. I was a big fan of the book Taking Charge of your Fertility and it helped me understand my body loads better even if it still took some time for us to conceive! The author of the book isn't a fan of OPKs though!
