I've been told by H tonight that I need to put towels down in the car in case my waters go whilst I'm driving. A bit extreme I thought, but ok. As the upholstery will be top of y concerns if I go into labour whilst driving...
Now he's just come out with me needing to cover the sofa, and see if I can try to minimise my time sitting on the lounge floor (I spend most evening leaning over the birthing ball) to protect the carpet.
Maybe I should just find a way to fix a bucket between my legs!

What is it with men??? Nice to know he is thinking of the material goods you though.
My H was obsessed with covering the mattress with a waterproof covering, incase my waters went, as he didn't want me "wrecking a brand new, £400 mattress" to$$er

This is why I could never contemplate a home birth
We still have the waterproof mattress on our bed from last time, it's worth it for the amount of times A decided to puke on it when little!

If they do go, he'll be asking if you're sure you haven't peed yourself

He'll be too busy running to the shed to get the tarpaulin

Ha, my H was exactly the same! I thought they weren't meant to be the fussy ones?
Oh and when my waters did go - in hospital, the first thing he asked was had I pee'd myself!

Mine was the same! We got a waterproof sheet for the bed and my waters broke - in bed - before we got round to taking it out of the packet. Luckily my H grabbed a towel and saved the bed.
My mum came and drove me to hospital - my dad gave her a couple of old shower curtains to put on the seat first! Haha! Eight months on and they're still in the boot...

I remember putting towel under my sheets from about 35 weeks as I was paranoid about ruining our new mattress! My H never mentioned anything!

H put an incontinence pad on tim car seat just in case. We have leather seats!

on leather seats? He almost makes my H seem reasonable!

First time i was forced to sit on plastic bags in the car- especially when overdue. And we had a sweaty mattress protector too. Luckily second time he knew it was unlikely they would go, so I was ok

I'm only 28 weeks and OH has mentioned getting some inco sheets from work to put in the car!
We will also have a paramedic maternity pack from his work! He is determined to do the delivery if he has to!

I've been told, after asking if H wanted to be at the birth incase he was squeamish about it, that 'I've seen plenty of lambs and calves born on the farm, so it'll be ok'.

I has a similar experience. Men are definitely more paranoid than you think!

Haha mine said the same re the car as "Even if it was cleaned up he'd never get over the memory and we'd need to get a new car". I was paranoid about the bed as we'd spent nearly £1000 on a new mattres! My waters did leak at first a tad when lay on the sofa.. h said that it was probably nothing, we went to bed and they really went then trickled all the way to the hospital, 30mins in the car! I'd a stash of all Hs work towels under me, thank goodness!
