I had an anterior placenta in my last pregnancy which meant I didn't really feel much movement until around 24 weeks & even then it was quite muted. I was wondering if I can find out the position of the placenta at my 12 week scan tomorrow? Obviously it won't make any difference either way I'm just impatient to know!!
The sonographer didn't seem keen to tell me for some reason but did say it was posterior which means that hopefully I'll get to feel movements a lot earlier this time & my hubby & toddler will hopefully be able to feel them too. I guess it's just pot luck!!

I found out at my 12 week scan that I had an anterior placenta :-)
edited to add that it stayed anterior.

I think so. It can move a little (usually upwards away from the cervix as the womb grows) but I think it stays in the same general area.
At 12 weeks I had an anterior and a posterior placenta. At my 18 week scan I still had an anterior and posterior placenta - in fact the sonographer labelled them Twin A and Twin P!

I was reading my notes the other day and noticed that they'd put that I have an anterior. I have no idea what it was last time!

Thanks ladies, will remember to ask about it tomorrow. Trying to read the screening booklet but my toddler (who copies everything I do) is currently reading it! & tells me it's interesting!!

I was told at my 12 week scan that I had an anterior placenta too x

An anterior placenta will stay that way. A high placenta will stay high but a low placenta can go higher as the pregnancy progresses.

I'd also be interested to know whether if you've had an anterior placenta once you're more likely to have one again- I have both times.

I had an anterior high placenta in my last pregnancy. It stayed that way throughout.

I have no idea what the odds are for having 2 anterior placentas in a row. Will see if I find out tomorrow.

I had an anterior placenta both times.

I had anterior placenta 1st time and have posterior this time....It really is pot luck. Like others have said the only positioning that can change in low lying to high etc, not back to front x
