we are thinking about getting a potty for Isla now that she's 18 months just to leave around the house so that she can get used to it. We're not thinking of starting to properly potty train her for a good few months yet but obviously we will use the same potty when we do. There seems to be so many different potties out there. How did u choose?

I think it was a few pounds from morrisons, to be fair they wee and poo in it so we didnt go for anything fancy. Our toilet its self isn't fancy so I just got a blue potty. My friend got an all singing/dancing one which possibly had a flush (maybe not though but I seem to remember talking about a flush) I know she paid a fair bit for it though. No idea why

I never used a potty, we went straight to the toilet. Seemed a faff to have a potty laying about for them to get used to it when they seen us using the loo every day anyway. Also made it easier when visiting or out and about as they were used to a normal toilet anyway!

For Joshua we had my sister's old potty and when that one cracked this time round, we bought one from Asda for 98p! I would just stick to a basic one to begin with rather than spending out lots, although both mine have used the toilet as well from early on.

Thanks ladies, just what I wanted to hear really as I didn't want to spend a fortune unless the all singing and dancing ones worked miracles!! I think when we do go for it I'd like Isla to use the toilet as much as possible but would like her to be happy using a potty too as it would be handy to have in the car for journeys/trips when toilets aren't available immediately!

Cheapo potty here too.
Got J a toy story one in a sale, for £1.
My Mum bought one for under a quid in Morrisons for at her house. They all do the same job.

Cheap one from mothercare. You can get ones that applaude but I figured that I can applaude for free!

Poundland for us, apart from a cheap morrisons one with a higher back that Iz preferred for a while.

Thanks all, we were popping to mothercare today for some other bits so we picked one up from there, think it was a fiver. Just a basic potty. Isla loved sitting on it when we left it out this afternoon (fully clothed!)
