I have pram trauma! Despite feeling rough today with cold I traipsed round mamas and papas and mothercare getting a bit traumatised by the whole pram thing! My lovely mum has given me ??600 to get a pram and carseat and I just can't decide which one to go for! I am put off the pramette type systems as I will have an April baby so I don't think it is totally necessary to have the bulky carrycot type base as it suits winter babies needs more I think. The trendy prams (like Quinny, Silver Cross Surf) look a bit uncomfortable for baby when they start to use the sitting up position in the pushchair. I need something light and zippy as I live in a small house with no porch....aaghhhh...any suggestions? What is everyone else getting/bought and why?

Im in exactly the same siutuation, a generous mum and no space to keep a pushchair! I havent bought one yet but am going on praticality. I'm only looking at strollers that fold up small and lengthways as I will be keeping it in my car boot. I'm going to get a seperate carseat/carry cot with a base, one that will fit onto a collapsable stroller. Im not looking at travel systems as they tend to be 3/4 kg in weight more than strollers, and they fold in a bulky rather than stream line.fashion. I have no storage in my house as it is, on the odd occasion i may beable to squeeze a streamline folded push chair in the overflowing coat cupboard! Most travel systems are MASSIVE!!!

We also have a generous mum and limited space - but yesterday we chose the icandy Cherry (with the carry cot). In comparison to others in the same sort of market, the Cherry is light and folds to a reasonable size (it also stands up when folded - very useful for keeping by the front door). Good luck choosing.

I've had the My4, I love the fact that the carrycot and regular seat are integrated and not seperate. I thought it was quite light compared to a couple of others I tried.

    Hi,

I've got a Loola Up, with the Windoo Carrycot and Maxi Cosi Cabriofix car seat. You can use the Loola Up from birth if you don't want to bother with the carrycot and can get adapters so the carseat will click onto the frame (although I'm not getting these).

It folds down with the seat on and if you take the seat off it stands up all compact and neat. I think it's about 11kg in total (which I don't think is heavy)

I chose this as at the time, it was one of the few prams that fit into the boot of a Saxo. It's only about ??280 (cheaper if you shop around) so you could use the money left over to get a stroller in 6 months or so.

    Happy hunting

oooh thanks - really useful hearing what everyone else is getting.....I am going to leave it for a few weeks and then go back with a fresh head so to speak and have another go at the decision!!! It is such a big amount of money I don't want to get something unsuitable.....it is hard to keep out of the trap of 'i need everything'!

I got beaten to it but was going to recommend the zapp xtra. It's on our shortlist as we loved the zapp when we had it for our son.
It's probably the smallest folding pram ever! Lol

ive got the loola up and love it cause you can use the carrycot in the car for long journeys and baby is laying totally flat. Also its rear and foreward facing which was one of the reasons we went for it. Like Arls0308 said it stands up totally flat. using the carrycot as a sleeping area during the day downstairs for first couple of weeks. Good luck prams are a mindfield, esp the more money you have.

I love love love silver cross, they have loads of sales on at the moment, we're getting the 3D in pistachio, I love the fact it comes with everything and despite it being a bit heavier than some of the others, there's not much weight difference really, and it folds up nicely. If you have a good budget have a look around, other lush ones are in the babystyle range. X

Hi Chicka, I went and looked at all the ranges in M&P, mothercare and babies r us with hubby, it was epic, took about 4 hours and a pub break for hubby bless him, always good to bribe him with a quick pint!

The babystyle ones are found at independant stocklists, see the website and from kiddicare, we liked the oyster and the lux 3in1. Gorgeous and lush colours! There's no quick way, I just made a tally of all the best reccomendations from girls on BE, then systematically looked at them allm and considered weight, size, colour ,design, price and that it had the features and accessories I wanted, silvercross did it for us! Think we're going for the sola too, it now comes in black and truffle(brown) which is what swayed it for us as we didin't want the green or purple one.

We opted for the Mothercare spin, as we live in a flat and I have a small car (Yaris) so the pushchair will be staying in the car. Like the Mothercare My3 or My4 the carrycot becomes the seat at a clip of a buckle and the frame folds up small enough for the boot. Happy Hunting! x

I've gone for the surf, having considered the bugaboo chameleon, stokke, and icandy peach came to the conculsion that it's trendy, light we dont need a separate carrycot and the money we save will go towards having a cath kidston nursery!
