When did you / will you start pre-washing clothes? I'm due in 2 months and am itching to start (so I can pack away and organise as I go) but wondering if it's too soon. I don't know what to do about new clothes either (a lot of mine are 2nd hand from family so although they were washed before being packed away and given to me, some are 5 years old so definitely need a wash to freshen them up!)
I guess new clothes should still be pre-washed, but I guess I'm a bit superstitious about opening the packaging before baby is safely here!

New stuff i didnt bother. Old stuff id give a freshen up a few weeks before due.
What type of nappies?

All cloth (new) so need several pre-washes, but I've been told that they don't need to be dried between washes so will do in one go. I have little lamb, totsbots and bumgenius.

I'd leave the new stuff if you can. Last time I ended up with loads I never used and then couldnt exchange/return/sell on as easily

If all bamboo then soak in bath overnight. I did assume cloth as you'd be a bit odd washing dispos lol

Ha - er, well yes! Baby brain...!
Good tip on the bath soaking - just in water, or in detergent too? I have bamboozle stretchies and little lambs bamboo so they can all go in.

New stuff I wouldn't bother washing.
I'm just washing my clothes I've got 2nd hand, I'm 36 weeks.

I've washed all my new clothes, I didn't like them smelling 'new' IYKWIM. I may even wash them again when I'm on leave!

I did it at about 6 months maybe earlier purely as i already had boys clothes and kept buying more and needed to know wht i had to stop myself buying more and more!

That's partly why I wanted to start sorting, RL - I feel unprepared and like I need to shop, but OTOH I *must* have it all now...!

I have decided to wait until my mat leave starts, mainly to give me something to do!! I haven't decided if I am going to wash new clothes but definitely will the nappies
