We are going to a first birthday party for a little boy and I don't know what to get - about £10 max budget. What would you recommend?

Either board books (we love the That's Not My series) or Tomy Hide n Squeak eggs. Alternatively a nice melamine plate/bowl set is usually a good bet.

Any of SLs recs would go down well with O. Other fave predents here under £10 here have been wooden instruments (sainsburys do a £5 wooden xylophone), chunky cars, megablock type building blocks etc

Wooden puzzle, book, bath toys?

SL's suggestions are great. Other good 1 year old presents would be basic wooden jigsaws that have the little handles, the little mini box sets of books (I loves the dear zoo & hungry caterpillar box sets she got which are great to take out for the day)

I bought this for my niece's first birthday last week. It's her new favourite toy and my sister-in-law loved it too: www.elc.co.uk/.../136105,default,pd.html
