I've agreed to return to work on the 19th August which will be when my SMP reuns out so 9 months. I have had my flexible request of 3 days per week accepted and a letter to confirm that 1) I'll be returning on the 18th August and 2) that they have agreed to the PT hours with a 3 month trial period.
I'm now having wobbles abd after sitting down and doing some sums I want to take 12 months off. Can I now do this? How much notice do I have to give? I've not signed anything to say I'll be back in August.
I think me delaying it will pee them off, they can't go back on my PT agreement for if/when I return in 12m can they?

I don't know the answer, but just as you havent signed to say you'll go back, I assume that means you havent signed a new reduced hours contract? If so then surely then could change their minds?

I *think* you have to give a months notice of change of date of return. So you still have time. Someone will be along with more accurate info i'm sure but that sticks out for some reason.

I know you have to give 8 weeks notice if you want to return before the 12 months is up but not sure if have already said a date. I guess just speak to them and hope they will understand.

Our policy is 8 weeks notice if you plan to return earlier, not sure what it is if you want to extend. I have got a feeling that employers should assume that you are taking the full 12 months so they don't need to ask when you are returning.
I don't think it would be right for them to refuse the PT working because you are extending your leave as you are entitled to a full 12 months off.
As long as you talk to them asap I'm sure they will be fine about it.

I agree with Mrs V, i dont think they can take back the part time approval just because you have decided you want to take the 12 months you are entitled to. They might be peed off but not sure they can do much about it now they've agreed in writing...

Unless during those 3 months they find reasons to not agree it.....
