We are currently BLW and I was having look at the baby rice cake things you can get as the adult ones seemed very salty. On the packet it said from 10 months (which J isn't) but am I right in thinking that this would only apply if you had gone down the purée route?

I gave them to Ella from about 7 months. She loved them! And the organix crisps, etc. I assume it is due to some younger babies being used to puree rather than being harmful.

It's more of a guide for parents who are purée weaning their babies.
E never liked rice cakes. She does like the little packets of breadsticks though.

I did BLW & I have to admit that I've never bought her any baby food. I buy low salted rice cakes (she doesn't really like rice cakes) and just give her real food. I wouldn't worry about the ages on things like that. As long as they're over 6 months they can eat almost anything except honey & some exotic fish like shark & marlin.

I gave her them from the start. Be warned though - they make an unbelievable mess, gummed rice spreads everywhere.

Thanks ladies- I'm starting to get used to the mess- he had hummus at lunch today which meant a change of clothes, hair wash and carpet scrub- all good fun though

I'd recommend getting a few cheap shower curtains that you can put under the highchair & then pop in the wash. They've been a godsend, although there have been moments that her food goes further than the shower curtain!!
