I'm full of useless questions/posts just now but it seems super quiet on here so thought I might as well ask!
Does anyone still give rusks? Before I had O it's something I just assumed you gave a baby, basically like a follow on from milk as I had heard it mentioned so many times and I know my sister and I both had them as babies. I didn't actually even know what they were so just googled them tonight and all I've found is threads slating them. Are they another done in the past but not recommended now thing or does anyone give them? Is it just a biscuit?

Sorry, me again! I didn't give them to E as the HV who did my weaning talk said there was as much sugar in one of them as a digestive biscuit. I have a friend who's little girl was only a couple of weeks younger who started weaning with rusks. I've given both of mine the organic biscuits instead as there sweetemd with grape juice so less sugar I hope!

Thanks lovey, just another thing I know nothing about!
I don't know what I thought they were, maybe some sort of semi solids to kick off weaning! I've heard them mentioned as much as milk so just thought they were a given! I remember a guy at my work talking to the two women who sit across from me (they're kids are in their late 20's) just last year about his little boy being a hungry baby and that they had put him on hungry baby milk and the women recommending he put a rusk in his bottle (which he did!)x

I had a pack for B but my ex-H ended up eating one and none of the others were touched. I tasted one as I had never had them, I know people my age who still ate them in their teens! You can get a farley's rusk milkshake at out local shake-away store, I might try it! lol.

We had some for W, but they weren't used for weaning as such, more of a wee morning snack. He didn't seem to take to them, so H ended up eating most of them, and then they went funny and had to be thrown out.

We had some rusks which I was going to give to E for a snack until I saw how much sugar was in them. My H ended up eating them too. Poor E thinks rice cakes are a biscuit treat instead!

I've never given I any 'baby food' as we did BLW. I think you can get healthier versions of rusks as they can be full of sugar. Also you should never put anything in a bottle except liquids as it's a major choking hazard as babies only expect liquid, that's definitely outdated advice now.

Thanks ladies, think I'll give them a miss when we get to weaning then!

We bought the low sugar rusks for F a couple of times. They were mainly as a snack when we were weaning as they easy to dissolve in the mouth for him. He usually only had half at a time and certainly didn't have them regularly.
