Honestly. She has been as useful as a chocolate teapot all through this pregnancy.
- She had me sent to the wrong health centre for my booking appointment,
- Somehow couldn't get my blood group from the hospital and told me i had to phone the hospital and get myself booked in again - when i didn't!!
- She took my bloods at 28 weeks, and although that part isn't her fault directly, i had to get them done again because they got lost on their way to the hospital!
So! Given that i don't know when i'm supposed to be doing things, i am relying on her to guide me. at my 32 week appointment, i just by chance happened to ask about antenatal classes as i hadn't heard anything about them and i wasn't sure on the protocol for them. She said i should phone the hospital and get myself booked onto the classes.
I Called my hospital on Friday to ask about Antenatal classes as i didn't know when i was supposed to be booked on to them, got a call back from the hospital today to tell me that i'd missed the set of classes that i was supposed to have gone to.
So i've been signed up for the next set of classes which run from the 2nd to the 23rd of April (nothing like cutting it fine i'd say) The woman on the phone said i should of been given all this informaiton at my booking appointment and then my midwife should of been helping to arrange this for me at my 28 weeks. neither of which happened. She is so useless. Basically because i'm having my baby in a different district, she's basically left all of this to me. If i hadn't asked about the classes at my last appointment (32 weeks), then i wouldn't have known that i was supposed to be going to any of them.
I am well and truely peeved!

no wonder you are peeved! That's ridiculous. You should complain about that treatment.

That is rubbish! My MW is pants too, although so far I've only seen her once for booking in. I am giving her a second chance and reserving complete judgement until my 25 weeks appointment.
I kind of took it on myself to sort out antenatel classes, they do them at the local childrens centres in our areas, maybe you could find a better on that way?

I wanted to go to the ones at the hospital that i'm going to deliver in as they take you on a tour of the ward etc which i thought would be good. i'm just a bit peeved that she didn't tell me that i should of been booked on to the classes before now as i didn't have any information on when i should of been organising it. I'm going to be in with all the "June" mummy's for this class!

I would be peed off too. But on the other hand I'm kinda impressed you've had the same midwife all the way through. I saw a different one for each antenatal appt, only repeating a MW once!

I had the same. I wasn't told of classes and just arranged them with the hospital. It's v frustrating though!

Saisi - For a while i was getting a different MW, I saw this one at my first appointment to get on the system to be booked in, she got the hospital i wanted to go to wrong and i wound up going to a different health centre to get my booking bloods and scan done. I have seen her twice since and each time she's caused unnecessary grief!
I guess i'll know for if there is a next time. H is furious that i've been mucked about so much, but i'm trying not to get too wound up about it. I do feel better now that i've written it all down. I am just grateful that there was space on the next set of classes.

I wouldn't be too impressed either. Have you thought about mentioning something to her supervisor? May be a bit late for you but could prevent the next person getting the same shoddy treatment
