Hi! I started taking the raspberry leaf tea tablets once a day from 36 weeks (I had heard you're not supposed to start them until 35 weeks but there is so much conflicting advice out there good knows what's right!). From 37 weeks I increased the dose to twice a day and from 38 weeks (when I'll finally have finished work and will be willing baby to come as soon as poss!!) I plan to go to the full 3 times a day dose that it recommends on the bottle! I haven't noticed any side effects - although I've been getting heartburn anyway so I can't tell if the tablets are contributing to that...

hi. it could be the tabs. is there a leaflet to tell you any side effects in the box.? they are good i took them with my first 2, i think they do help slightly in how good your contractions are, they tone you uterus up ready for labour to make the contractions more effective. x

i was under the impression that you shouldnt take them at all if you are under 35 weeks, but then again im not too sure... i would consult your midwife to be on the safe side!

it doesnt state any side affects on the bottle. been taking two tablets 3 times a day like it says. maybe i should start off on a lower dose?? i havent actually spoken to my midwife yet, i see him on weds so ill ask him then. i have noticed the baby moving around alot more too, not sure if that has anything to do with it?

hmmm im not too sure, but im convinced i read in one of my pregnancy books that if you take them before you reach 35-37(cant remember which!) weeks, then you increase the risk of having your baby prematurely!! if it was me, i wouldnt take any more until i had asked my midwife about it, but its your choice x

Actually I've noticed that baby has been moving around a lot more and making bigger movements since I started taking the tablets too so maybe that is a side effect of them...

I thought the tablets where from 35/36 weeks. I know you can drink the tea from 32 weeks. heartburn could just be coincidence, as pregnant ladies are prone to it. If in doubt go on cow and gate website and e mail one of professionals, they e-mail you back pretty quickly... x

spoke to somebody from the cow and gate websit like you suggested, they told me to start taking the tablets at 34weeks. start taking them earlier and it can cause a uterus irritation. as regards to the heartburn, this isnt a side effect to the tablets and concerning the baby movements, this is fine.. lots of movements means a healthy baby. also if your taking the tablets and experience more braxton hicks, then the dose needs to be lowered. thanks for the info samf. xx
