Hope they are getting on ok? Have any started to grow out of it yet?
S is now on ranitidine after 4 unsuccessful weeks on gaviscon. I went to a different gp and she was much more sympathetic and helpful. We only started yesterday, any tips on administering it? I'm using the syringe ATM but not sure how much he's actually swallowing. Was wondering if it was worth trying to slip it in as I bf but not sure if that will be even trickier!

Hi lamby.. Glad to hear that you have a more sympathetic gp now.. I don't know about administering it but I'm sure someone will be along soon!
Little h seems to be doing quite well on the gaviscon.. We have got through the constipation Now too.. Hopefully it will continue...hope your little man does better on the rantadine x

That's great news Bexy, I'm so pleased. Does H have sicky or silent reflux? I found the gaviscon helped the sickness a little but not enough and didn't touch the silent symptoms, but am really glad it's working for H and he is happier and no longer constipated - that can't have been fun for him x

Silent but obviously not as extreme as some as it seemed to ease his symptoms over a week long period.. We still get hiccups and some pains but nothing like it was..

My baby is weird and when he sees the syringe of ranitidine he opens his mouth! I think because he has either had med's for colic or oral thrush he is so used to it now and likes it. It's like he smacks his lips with each squirt as if to say 'yummy'. You could just slip syringe into side of his mouth whilst feeding or just do it very slowly. How much does he get? We are on 0.5ml so we do it in 3/4 squirts. I've tasted it and its horrible! F is much calmer on it and I just hope they continue to prescribe it.

That's great it's helping overall Bexy.
Ha ha TP! I thought S would be ok as he gobbled up the stuff he had at his injections when they said most spit it out but he definitely does not like ranitidine! He stops swallowing so lots seems to dribble out, he's on 5ml too. Looking at him as I feed now, I'm not sure he'd let me squeeze a syringe in like I hoped but will try. I wondered about the spoon as well but I guess the same would happen if he hates the taste - he looks at me completely disgusted!

Glad to hear you found a more sympathetic GP - hope it gets things under control for S. No advice on the syringe - as you know E goes nuts when she sees the syringe - which is why I now give the gaviscon in a bottle and then breast feed!!
I think E is now starting to grow out of it (3 months old today!!) she is generally much happier to lie on her back and doesn't have the pained face she use to. She very rarely brings anything up now either.
We were lucky because gaviscon helped us loads, and we are now kind of weaning her off it, as she still only has 1 sachet even though she is over the 10lb mark and could have 2 sachets. Once her op is out of the way I am hoping we will be able to stop altogether,

Hey, we've had a rough couple of weeks since stopping ranitidine with constant screaming and only gaining 2oz in weight. We had her restarted on ranitidine yesterday and she already seems more content.
I use a 1ml syringe and stick it right into her cheek, and squirt in two goes (shes on 1ml). I lay her quite far back so she can't spit. A dummy also helps - squirt it in and then plug with a dummy as she'll suck and swallow straight off

Glad everyone's doing well.
We're doing really well now, still sick once or twice a day but much more comfortable. He's still on 2.5ml domperidone and 1.4ml ranitidine. He may be growing out of it a bit too I think.
In terms of administering it, the domperidone he'll happily take and sucks it out the syringe but he hates ranitidine. It's quite menthol isn't it? He dribbles it out a lot so not sure how much he actually takes, I just squirt it into his cheek too. He has both in his evening bottle so gets it once a day!

I am pretty sure everyone's sick of hearing me go on about P's reflux!
90% of the time she is a happy smiley little girl. She has less hiccups, less spit bubbles, less sneezing, much longer gaps between feeds, less diarrhoea, less farting and most importantly less pain!! She still has the odd day where she cries all day but i am coming to the conclusion what baby doesn't? She is very snotty as soon as we lay her down in the crib which is a main factor in her not settling at night - she has been waking every 2 hrs so last night as she is now 3 months i put a couple of drops of baby olbas on a muslin near her crib and she slept silently for the first time ever for 5 hrs!!! She also still chokes on feeds daily. The only thing that stops that with bottles is AR Aptamil but she sometimes chokes when i bf too. She is coughing more than she used to but she is now dribbling a lot so hard to tell if its that or reflux.
So i think she does still have symptoms but nowhere near as bad as they were. Either Gaviscon is working or she is growing out of it.
As far as the snottyness goes i will speak to my HV next week to see if it needs looking into or whether i can use olbas for now and if so for how long. I am also going to discuss the choking with her. Do anyone else's LOs do this or are very snotty? Its been suggested she might be lactose or milk intolerant or allergic but my GPs (i've had 7 opinions now from various people!!) dont think her symptoms are bad enough and i have to say now she is getting better i think i agree or she wouldnt be improving. She sometimes really rubs her eyes like they itch but i wonder if thats because of her stuffy nose.....

S had been snotty and snuffley the last 2 nights but his big brother is full of snot! He's fine in the day though

Finn is on omeprazole and nutramigen aa formula and while I thonk the reflux is better he gets terrible pains from wind and constipation. Looks like we can win! Am just hoping he grows out of them when his stomach matures in a few weeks.
I tried him back on the lipil 1 for a day and he had loads of mucous in hos nappy, his rash came back and he cried for ages with hos tummy so I am pretty sure he is intolerant.
It's so sad that it is so hit and miss and the poor wee mites have to suffer. Hopefully they will all start to grow out of it soon. Getting the omeprazole into him is getting more and more difficult everyday!
