...As the title says, this is a stupid stupid question and I apologise but it has been bothering me....

Im due in 2 weeks, and am having trouble doing a no 2 at times as my bump is in the way of me pushing (sorry tmi) but, what if i went into labour without realising it and thought i needed a no 2 but actually gave birth to my baby down the toilet? And harmed the baby?
I voiced this to my oh last night and he told me to come back when I was being an adult!!
I know its a silly quesiton, but I have read about this happening and how women have given birth on the loo etc.
I have a mw app on fri so could have asked her, but its been worrying me for ages so thought id ask you ladies - blushing as i write for asking such a stupid question.

    Thanks, Claire 38 w tommoro!x

Not a silly question a friend of ours sister went for a poo and pushed her baby out she was in the eraly stages of labour but she didn't think she was that estabilished her baby wasen't harmed at all so I am sure if it did happen and it probably won't so don't panic I am sure it will be ok. Ask you MW and let us know what she says... good luck xx

Oh dear the things that we worry about! dont feel silly, i have to admit i have thought some fairly silly things too. This is myfirst so i cant be certain but am guessing that giving birth is usually going to cause more pain than a number 2. I have also heard that often the body prepares itself for labour by giving you the trots to ahem clear you out!! fingers crossed.

PS let me know as i have suffered with constipation thats been very painful and caused bleeding on a reg basis so have a personal interest in finding out the answer to your question.

    Good Luck xx

    Oh hun!
Dont be daft, no question in pregnancy is stupid but your oh's comment did make me giggle!
You will KNOW when your labor hun, you would certainly know before you got to the pushing stage. When you first go into labor you can mistake contractions for needing the loo but as they become closer together and more intense they change.

hi hun, ddint want to r and r but its highly unlikely thats going to happen! trust me you will know when baby is coming and as for the poo well i was constipated too and it wont harm your baby or push baby out your cervix is closed hun cant come out till in labour, i have had 4 babies and never once have i not realized i was that far dilated that my baby would be born in a toilet without me knowing does that make sense? sorry !! dont worry

    stupid BE eat my reply!!

Anyway it's really really rare for that to happen!!!
And I'm pretty sure you will know when your in labour before u get to that stage, I did!!

But just to put ur mind at ease my nan had my mum on the toilet, and she's semi norm lol!!

The only thing is you wanna be carefull that you dont get hemaroids (dont know howto spell it) anyway you know what I mean it's really easy to get them in preg, so try and keep it loose hehe!!

Thanks so much, i was worried i'd be boo'ed off here as you'd all think i was silly!!
My oh made me laugh when he said that too, altho i did try and tell him i was serious, and he wasnt sat at home all day worrying about these kind of things! I will ask my mw on fri and see what she says too.
As littlem said - it does happen!!
I guess im just worried id then wipe and try and flush the loo with my baby in it (yes ive just read how ridiculous that sounds)
I have read that your body clears out any no2's before labour starts, so i guess i just need to stop worrying about things like this!!

Sorry if this comment sounds like I'm taking the micky, I'm really not I promise.

Lol I think you'd get more than a million from the press coverage!
I can see the headlines now.."woman flushes her newborn"! 'sewage workers find newborn baby in pipes"!
Hope you've put your mind at rest hun, its horrible thinking all these thoughts and having nowhere to put them.
To be fair I was induced with my first baby, I was given a gel at 1am and at 5am woke up with contractions but thought I just needed the loo so spent the following 6 hours complaining that I needed a poo to the mw's and going backwards and forwards to the loo until one of them took pity on me and told me I was in labor! I certainly knew about it by the time I got to 10cm though!
