H has started really fidgeting in his sleep the past few weeks - I frequently find him lying across the cot right at the bottom. He seems to have taken to sleeping on his side too, we always put him down on his back but he automatically rolls on to his side and looks really comfy, is this ok? (He's almost 6 months)
Anyway this week he has been going from his side over on to his tummy (he hates being on tummy in daytime) and sleeping like that, however he gets really upset when he wakes up on his tummy which happened quite alot last night and involved me rolling him back but he obviously got back on his front. I know sids guidelines recommend them not to sleep on their tummies but I can't stop it if he is doing it himself can I? Any tips?!

O could roll from 2 months and from that moment wanted to sleep on his tummy and would get into all sorts of positions in his cot, I spent my nights moving him back to the bottom of his cot and onto his back! I then spoke to a sleep specialist health visitor when he was 4 months old and she said once they can move themselves around and go into their stomachs then leave them, I've done that ever since and he now won't sleep any other way but on his front. I wish I'd spoken to her earlier as I spent 2 months up all
Night with a sleeping baby lol!

He can roll on to his tummy no problem and during the day he can roll back but it seems to take him alot of effort, he tends to go up on his knees to do it and at night he won't even attempt it - I'm not sure if it's because he's in a gro bag? So that's why I'm having to get up and roll him back.
Wow - rolling at 2 months!!

Yeah rolled over that early but only just started rolling back. Once I just left him on his tummy I only had to get up once or twice a night to help him onto his side for a bit. I took him out his grow bag for a bit because it seemed to frustrate him, do you think that's happening? Recently I've put him back in one and he is a lot happier

Could try but he is just such a fidget at the moment that I'd be scared to use a blanket and he'd be too cold without anything over him.

I had the same fears about the blanket, I was told by the HV you can buy grow suits. They look like baby grows but have the tog level of a grow bag. I looked into them but they can be expensive. I tried him with a blanket and he just took it around the cot with him, after a couple of weeks he happily went back into the grow bag. Might be worth looking into them? He has been a much better sleeper since I just let him do what he wants, so have I been too!
