I am so annoyed with Mothercare! In May we ordered a cot bed and changing unit. The changing unit arrived, the cotbed didn't. A week later when I was on the 'track my order page' it said that the cotbed had been refunded. Upon investigation it turned out that the box had been damaged in transit, so Citylink had returned it to Mothercare. No-one had bothered to tell me. A replacement wasn't available so we returned the changing unit.
On 3rd July I ordered another cotbed and chest of drawers. We weren't in when they delivered it last Wednesday or Thursday, and despite Mothercares website stating that it will be delivered to a neighbour, they returned it to the depot. We went to pick it up on Monday to find that it was too big to fit in the car and we would need a van. Phoned Mothercare who arranged redelivery for today.
After staying in all day it hasn't turned up. Phoned Citylink who said it was in their depot more than 5 working days so it has been returned to sender. Phoned Mothercare who said that it will have been returned to their warehouse, they now have no way of knowing where it is, have no more in stock, and "it's Citylinks error anyway" (their words) as they issued a redelivery instruction. Spoke to Citylink again, who said that they have never received a redelivery instruction, and they returned in on Wednesday. So it is the fault of Mothercare, who didn't issue a redelivery instruction.
Am now waiting for a phonecall on Monday from the person at Mothercare who deals with Citylink issues, for a full explanation of the situation. In the meantime they have refunded me, and said it isn't their fault, so we have no nursery furniture and A will be sleeping in the travel cot for a while longer.
Can't believe it's now happened twice!
So any recommendations? It was this collection: http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Appleby-Cot-Bed/454125,default,pd.html#q=appleby so looking for something similar.

Have you looked at ikea or John Lewis? Our cot is ikea (not the cheapest one) and changing unit John Lewis, they are both white painted and match well despite being from different shops.
Shocking service :(

That is shocking but sadly not surprising. My cousin recently had a similar experience. I can't remember off the top of my head where we got ours from but it was only cheap and I rate it. Could find out where it was from if it was the kind of thing you were looking for.

Hi SC, can't help with the cotbed recommendation only that we have the Mamas and Papas Hayworth Collection which looks lovely but obv not used it yet!
But I've had a similar experience with MC. We ordered our pram, carseat and isofix base with them and had a set delivery day. I waited in all day and even called the local MC store twice to make sure it was coming as just had a 'feeling' just to be told if that day was our delivery day it would definitely be there and they couldn't track it for me. Well lo and behold it never turned up.
I then phoned the store again the next afternoon and this time they did chase it for me only to be told the courier didn't get round to doing all the deliveries and it was coming that day instead, no phone call to let me know I had to chase it so cue a made dash home to make sure I didn't miss the delivery!
THEN they did deliver that afternoon but to the wrong house, even though I was in, and just left it all in the back garden!!
I too was initially told it was the courier's fault but I didn't let it rest and eventually got sent through some MC vouchers so def persist in complaining to their customer services!

That's shocking service! I've heard bad things about them from friends.
I found this as I have a Tutti Bambini cot bed, which is excellent, www.tuttibambini.co.uk/.../rio-cot-bed-white-finish And these from Kiddicare (get cash back through Quidco too) www.kiddicare.com/.../categorydisplay19A_2475%2B5001%2B2404_NumberSold%7C1_10751_45696_filter_true_-1_45696_10001_45696

Ours is v similar to the mothercare one you like and is from babies r us. No problems with it and not too expensive. Might be worth checking them out.
Shocking service from mc thougj

How annoying! We had a nightmare with mothercare when we ordered our nursery furniture. We'd ordered a wardrobe and changing unit. It certainly got delivered but it had looked like someone had jumped repeatedly on the boxes. How the courier felt it was ok to deliver them I don't know. When we opened them the wardrobe had strips of wood missing down the side of the door and both pieces were wry badly damaged. Oh and 1 box hadn't been delivered at all!
We phoned mc who were completely useless. They wanted to deliver the missing box before doing anything about taking the others away and then kept saying there was nothing else in stock. Anyway, after much complaining they picked up the boxes and delivered new ones (which had the back of he changing unit damaged) and we kept those.
It's worth phoning mc and asking for something. They originally offered us a £10 voucher which I laughed at complaining that we still had a slightly damaged unit and had to take days off work to stay in (we hadn't as we were on holiday) as well as cost and time of phone calls. They eventually gave us an £80 refund.
As for recs, anoter vote for John Lewis. We got out cotbed from there and the service is fantastic and quality is brilliant.
Hope you manage to get it sorted.

That's absolutely shocking. From what I know, it is always the responsibility of the supplier (mothercare) not the courier when things go wrong. They should be compensating you, not just refunding you! We also ordered cotbed and changing table from Mothercare and it all arrived safely with Citylink, but I've also had bad experiences with them ordering other products. Their computer systems seem shocking. I seem to have three different accounts with them depending on how I order, and I once ordered something which they could only tell me two weeks later was actually out of stock!
I hope you manage to find furniture from another shop x

That's terrible sc!
We liked your one too and pretty sure Boots had something similar, and maybe M&P

Thanks for all the recommendations guys, will have a look through them today.
Had a look at John Lewis last night but nothing really grabbed me - all the other furniture in the bedroom is oak, which we are struggling to match colour-wise so I was looking for something grey/white. Even more annoying is that we ordered the cotbed mattress from Boots, so have that sitting in the bedroom waiting for a cot!
HatTrick - I love your nursery!!
Will wait and see what they say on Monday, they offered us extra if we wanted to exchange it for a different set but only the price paid if we took a refund. After having this twice now we went for the refund, but I'm still not happy and will be complaining higher if they don't do something on Monday.

Is this too light for the oak? www.tuttibambini.co.uk/.../3-bears-7pce-nursery-bundle . its the furniture we have to match other beech furniture.
