This will probably be a bit long and rambly - I'm sleep deprived but thought I'd take the chance while S is asleep on his daddy and write my birth story.
My consultant agreed to induction around my due date due to anxieties I had re labour after a tough time delivering my last baby. Baby was also expected to be on the big side (8lb 13 estimated at 37 weeks) so I was glad I wasn't going to be allowed to go overdue. I had an appointment on Wednesday where I was examined and told that I would need prostin so was booked in for the following afternoon.
After dropping the kids off and having a nice child free lunch at Frankie and Benny's we headed up to the hospital for 2pm. I was put on the monitor for a while then the mw inserted the prostin at 4pm. I was very disheartened when she told me my cervix was really far back and she didn't think there was any chance of the prostin doing anything that day (her words were - you'll need a bomb up there to get this baby out soon!). She put me on the monitor for 2 hours and said that's all that would happen until 7am. We settled down to read some magazines and watched a bit of catch up TV on my H's tablet expecting a long and boring night.
I'd been texting my PP, CK saying how bored I was etc but at around 8pm I felt like I was maybe getting a bit of period pain. My H was due to be sent home at 9pm so at about half 8 we went for a wander round the ward and I asked for paracetamol, just so the MW knew I thought something was maybe starting to happen. I explained this was how my labour with J started and things went quick but she said it was totally different as my last labour was spontaneous. I had downloaded an app to time the pains which seemed to say they were 2 mins apart lasting 40 seconds but as they weren't too painful it was difficult to time them properly. I text CK again at 8.45 saying the MW wasn't bothered and that they didn't think anything would happen. Just after this though I started to freak out, I think I knew something was happening and broke down in tears. My H went to find a MW as I was worried he was going to be sent home and I don't think anyone had read the bit in my notes about how anxious I was as they all seemed confused as to why I was getting induced. The student MW came in to see me and calm me down and had a feel of my tummy and said she could feel the pains I was having but that they weren't very strong. The MW then came in (I'm in a ward of 4 people still so just have the curtain pulled while I'm hysterical lol, not a great moment) and tried to tell me that it was probably just the prostin causing the pains and that many women have pains like I was having all night and that nothing would happen. I just remember thinking there was no way I could cope with the pains all night and panicking about how I was going to manage. She gave me another 2 painkillers and told me she'd get me a birthing ball and run me a bath. I'm tensing up in pain every 2 minutes or so and she just keeps telling me to breath. I think at this point I wanted to hit her!!
Mid contraction I felt my waters go and informed them of this but still no one seemed bothered, I just kept thinking why the hell are they not taking me downstairs to delivery. They put me on the monitor again and the MW announced that she wanted to examine me to take some swabs to check for infection and would I mind if the student did it. I was just thinking wtf but let them get on with it. They were then faffing about with aprons and getting a speculum to do the swabs. Finally the student examined me and announced that I was fully dilated as I started to moan and felt like I needed a poo!! They suddenly decided to spring into action and grabbed my bed and ran through the corridors, and into the lift whilst shouting a

Ha, CK I almost asked if it was RAH as my sis was induced there and was 7cm dilated the first they examined her because they insisted she couldn't be in established labour. Sounds like they are crackers!
