    hey everyone
i dont know if anyone else has posted anything about this as theres so many topics so i thought id just start a new one

am rather annoyed atm,i had my 12 week scan a couple of weeks ago n am now 14 weeks have been labeled as high risk as im bi polar but none of that is the problem
my problem is my next scan is xmas eve on which ill be 23 weeks
is it right im not getting a scan in between 12 weeks and 23 weeks cos to me that doesnt seem quite right
this is my first baby n im being carefull about everything but am obviously new to this
so any advice would be great
ill be calling my midwife tommorow(if i can find out who she is) but i dont want to call and kick off for no reason

    :\?

    hi g/c from baby

nope its normal to have one at around 12weeks (dating scan where they see how far u r etc) and another at around 20weeks (anomoly scan where they'll check babies organs etc in more detail as by then they can tell gender and see kidney function and heart chambers etc) the times of urs are perfectly usual except ur next one is a little later and that will be ur last one unless there are circumstances requiring further scans or u pay for a private one. xx

oh and forgot to add u shld definatley have met ur midwife by now, i'm quite shocked u haven't. I sugest u phone ur doctor's sugery and ask for her number or for them to contact her on ur behlf to arrange ur booking which is usually done before ur 12week scan, if no joy there phone the patient liason at ur local hospital they will give u her number xx

The scan side of things is normal, some people dont even get a 12 week scan. the 12 and 20 week scan might be the only scans you get (they normally only scan you later if its justified, breech or small or big baby)
Like siany said, I would ring GP's and ask when you are likely to meet your midwife as normally between your 12 and 20 week scan you see a midwife around 16-18 weeks
    xx

It's usual for a scan at approx 12 & 20 weeks, if all is well these will be the only scans you have unless you pay private. The only time further scans are needed are for growth etc if they feel there is a problem.
