This is my first pregnancy (unplanned I might add) but I'm so nervous. A couple of weeks ago I had massive cramps and thought I was due on, this was not to be, on Saturday night I was out drinking (not loads) and I had massive cramps again but no blood so I did a test and was positive. This was yesterday. So I'm about 5 weeks along I've got slight abdominal pain, nothing as major as the first ones but it is kinda constant, and today I've got back ache, I have been standing around a bit today due to work. I'm just so worried that somethings going to go wrong it's ridiculous. I'm not bleeding by the way.
Also I've only just signed up to a Drs and my first appointment is next week. Is there anything i should be doing to take care etc? Or ask the Drs.
Sorry it's a bit long winded, any help is much appreciated xx

Didn't want to read and run. I am also expecting my first and am currently 9+4. Before I found out I was pregnant I was having bad AF symptoms and my period was late so I just assumed I needed to wait for my AF to turn up as I was getting BFN tests. Then four days later I started to get positive ones.
I have had a couple of sharp pains but this is if I have twisted funny and apart from that everything seems ok. I had mild stomach cramps for the first 4-5 weeks with back ache but these have settled down now.
Nothing happens until you get to 10ish weeks when you have your booking in appointment with the midwife, all your doctor will do is confirm the pregnancy.
Start taking Folic acid or a pregnancy vitamin and stop drinking is what I recommend.
Hope that helps
Hello, what you are describing are perfectly normal ' settling in cramps' just baby getting snug ! As long as there not very painful with bleeding you should be fine, try a warm bath before bed x
As for what to do before drs, its just folic acid suppliments or a mum to be vitamin. If you smoke / drink try to cut it out and eat / drink healthy.
There are a few food rules, try to avoid raw egg, soft cheese, pates etc, you can find a list and advice online e too x
Congrats hun x and don't worry lots of ladies on here are happy to help with any questions x

Ahh thank you guys, that's definitely eased my mind, I'm gonna go grab some folic acid on my lunch break, as for drinking I've stopped that, it's a rare occurence for me to drink anyway and its just made me feel horribly guilty.
I searched online for my symptoms and MC came up a lot which I think made me even more nervous.
I'll try and stay positive. All I want is a scan to make sure everything's okay xx

If you really want to put your mind at rest, you could pay for a private early scan but you will still need to wait until you are 7-8 weeks.
I would say as long as the pain is not severe and you are not bleeding then what you described is pretty normal.
The best thing you can do is try to relax and be as healthy as possible - the more stressed you are the worse you will feel.

I've finally told a couple of people and they'be said it sounds normal to them I just have to keep an eye on it. I just wish I had some other symptoms, I've got slightly sore nipples but nothing that screams to me that I'm pregnant. Except the positive pregnancy test of course xx
