Bit late to be pondering, but with my son I had an EMCS and this time I'm going elective. Seeing consultant tomorrow and wondered what to expect/ask?

I saw the consultant following my appointment at the VBAC clinic so had had the "sell" on VBAC by the midwife. She had asked me if I knew what I wanted (yes, an ELCS) and had passed this info on to him. He questioned me as to why I wanted an ELCS, he gave me all the pros and cons of both VBAC and ELCS although there was a definite leaning towards VBAC. I think generally you don't have this appointment until later but I was only 24 weeks however was very stressed about it having had a general anaesthetic last time. As I knew exactly what I wanted I responded to each of his points with "yes I'm aware of that but I still want an ELCS". I was then booked in.

I'm 33 weeks. I told MW at my booking in that I wanted ELCS and she contacted consultant -appointment was made so fast, I got the letter for it before my 12 week scan!
I'm pretty aware of ELCS vs vbac as we looked into it a bit before we started TTC #2. My recovery last time was ok, and I managed to bf, so hoping an elective will go ok too? I'm just dead against trying vbac and then being EMCS again.

Just to update - it was quick and easy. They went over risks and then asked when I wanted to be booked in! I chose the date, it went in the diary and that was that. Bit weird knowing the due date now, esp as its going to be on MIL birthday, oil

Glad it wasn't stressful for you. It is so weird knowing the date. We are trying to keep it quiet, a la Rusty, but it is difficullt when people are asking to make arrangements for playdates etc.

Well as its the Monday before my due date I'm just saying that we are taking the whole week off everything just to prepare ourselves. Hopefully all will go to plan and baby won't try to come early!
Only my parents and OH parents will know the date because of childcare

My problem is that ours is the last week of the school term so there are lots of activities going on for Zoe that we just aren't going to be able to do, if it was a normal time of year we could probably get it away with it more easily. I bet your MIL will be over the moon that it is her birthday.

My mums birthday is only 4 days later so its almost her birthday too!
Will update on 3rd tri thread later when I get home

It was fun!
Just tell people you can go - they will understand why you can't!
